Artemis suit - best mods

I’m planning on another exploration trip, my first since Odyssey came out (I had an about 3 year break from the game) and just after some tips for most useful Artemis suit mods.

I just did the first planet on a guide in the bubble with about 8 life forms (worth a tidy 69m) to get a feel for the eco-biology gameplay loop and my gut feel is Increased Battery Capacity and Improved Jump Assist are a must. I only have a G3 unmodded suit currently. Can get to G4 without too much effort (just some trading as I’m 3 aerogel short) so would think Improved Sprint would be good or would Reduced Tool Power use be worth it? I would guess you always want to be on the day side of a planet as finding them would be a nightmare otherwise so nightvision probably isn’t a priority (I have it on my Mav and Dominator suits)? Getting to G5 would take a bit of grinding for the power regulators and manufacturing instructions.

Just after people’s thoughts.

I’m ok from a ship perspective, have a DBX with dual SRV hangar that will jump a max of 69ly so getting out to the lesser travelled areas isn’t too much of a mission. Just need to engineer an SCO FSD but think I have the mats for it.

I gave mine:

︎ Reduced Tool Battery Consumption
︎ Improved Jump Assist
︎ Increased Sprint Duration
︎ Night Vision

It already has the biggest battery of all suits, and I'm not spending hours outside of my ship/SRV. You won't have a shield depleting the battery either.

It depends a bit on how you do exobiology, if you use the SRV modifications that increase suit duration are less important, if you work on foot directly from your ship you might well be out longer* which makes those more important.

Apart from Bacterium most things are fairly straightforward with nightvision, I made a point to buy a suit with that.

I find having a scoped weapon along useful for the zoom when trying to spot distant bios.

*I try and find overlaps and have on occasion got almost all samples from three different types on one trip from my ship I couldn't find the last sample of the third type in time and barely got back to my ship to recharge.

All my onfoot gear is bought over the counter.

Since there is no mod to speed up scanning there are only some nice to haves for the arti suit (in my opinion).

Sprint (obvously)
Jump assist
Night vision
Reduced Battery Consumption

I can not remember needing to use a battery for recharging while doing exobio. The suit is very low on power usage. And the arti suit got a whopping THREE batteries.
It is the fastest in running and can jump the highest of all the suits.

As others had said it depends what you want to do.
I don't normally go beyond G3 for an exploration suit, I have 2 G5s for AX work.
For myself I'm prone to wander around on foot (particularly when looking for Fungoida setsis...) so enhanced battery and reduced tool consumption, along with a scoped weapon for when I decide to go for a hike.
I have heard decent arguments for night vision an jump pack, (High G and species that you can only find on the night side) though my SRV normally deals with these aspects.

I did Night Vision, Sprint, Jump Assist and Improved Battery.

Night Vision is the best mod in general. I don't like walking. On a low G-world your jumping will go faster that sprinting. Improved Battery is just better than tool battery consumption overall since your battery effect everything.

I think I’ll go with sprint, jump assist, bigger battery and NV. I mainly got to thinking about this as the planet I tired exo biology on had a lot of them in an area that was impassible for the SRV never mind even landing even a smal ship so I spent a lot of time on foot.

Cheers everyone o7

No mods for me yet, just plain vanilla, and I've never had a life-threatening event on foot when doing exobio. I use my DBX more like an SRV when hopping around, even for 300m hops sometimes (depends on terrain). However, I do plan eventually to get a better jump, which would be helpful in rough terrain.

I spent time on each of my accounts shopping around for G3 suits with Sprint mod already fitted (I have never done any Oddy engineering at all). Really, use it all the time (obviously), whereas the suit I have which also came with NV has never used the NV AFAIR.

Congrats on getting into exobiology! It’s lots of fun.
Heavily recommend you stop using the guide, make way more on first footfalls.

That said I don’t know what everyone else is on about. I guess they just like upgrading stuff (?)

Bro there is literally no reason to upgrade the Artemis suit or anything on it.

If you want to do some salvage or even combat you can hop into your SRV or ship and change your suit in one second. Your ship and your SRV already have night vision.

Wait, are you walking from bio sign to bio sign?

Sure it's nice to hoof it sometimes

And jump up so high weeee

But I'm usually just as happy in my other suit because it has lasers and is red. When those flora are really getting on my nerves!!

I do for stuff that’s less than 300m between samples depending on terrain and assumed preferences of the bio in question, otherwise I fly in my small pad ship.

That's how I do it with my Sidewinder. I don't even use the SRV. Distance under 500m = I walk. Distance 500m or greater = I fly. There's mountains (where the funghi live) where a SRV is useless. The Sidey can still land on some rock standing out from a 45° wall. And our on foot avatars are half mountain goats.

I think one of my Artemis suits has reduced tool battery consumption or improved battery cap, jump assist, sprint and night vision. Works very well.

I’m not following a guide, I just wanted to try rather than watch on YouTube so wanted a spot in the bubble to try the mechanics before I set off. I plan to find undiscovered stuff and will be going a long way from the bubble. This is why I’m planning, I don’t want to get hours away from the bubble and really decide I want a mod for the suit.

The planet I tried it on had a lot of the exo bio sites in locations that were totally impassible for the SRV or landable even with a small ship. I’m using a DBX so not exactly a big unit.

Artemis also has three energy cells on board anyway so I'm tellin ya CMDR uncle bulgaria, don't think you'll miss that fourth modification and do think you'll appreciate the time savings versus those materials!

It's good to change it up - sometimes on foot or in SRV or in ship have more advantage than others. Now go pick em clean CMDR
