Artemis suit temperature range

Great, then why do I get on-foot mission to planets where I cannot set a foot on? Why are there NPCs walking around the wreckage I should get stuff from?

edit: also where to see the temperature of a planet?

Create an issue for it if there are things not behaving as they should.

The temperature range is in the System Map, under 'Description'

My suit gave me a warning and the temperature when I disembarked. But of course I couldn't have disembarked without the suit..

this among many other issues has been reported long ago by the alpha testers ;)
Yeah we're not in the Alpha now though, so we get the joy of telling them which ones have made it into live.

I flew 42,000 Ly to the planet that Frontier named years ago after my Nephew who passed away, because I needed to get first footfall on it. I couldn't disembark as it is 860K.

That's a shame. Maybe engineering will allow the range to increase one day, who knows.

Is the surface temperature the same all across the planets? Pre odyssey I've usually landed on the sunny side of planets, or close to the "edge" between day and night. If you have the same habit you might have success if you go to the night side of that planet instead.

Did you try night side of planet?

Yeah before I found out the limits I tried the light side, the terminator and the dark side. The temperature range is 831-1,623K.

I originally misremembered it seems, and it is closer. But the planet is only 223Ls from a B class star, so it's pretty warm and bright :D

The wiki says 700K. I seem to remember there's a link to a video of someone that was calibrating until found that figure. But if devs confirmed it, I guess it's time to Edit.

Maybe that was written before the hotfix that increased the temperature range? I have not tested it personally.

I wish there were more Engineering options that would really help exploring more types of planets like "increase temperature max" or something similar.

I would certainly like to have that as an option too, assuming that all engineer blueprints have been discovered already.

I've confirmed that the Artemis can handle 780K. I landed on a planet where the night side allowed disembarking with it at that temperature. So the cutoff probably is reliably 800K now.
Great stuff, thanks (y)

I think mine can survive a little bit higher tempature

My hottest first footfall. 798K on the far dark side. Rings are lit up on the horizon.
My avatar started grunting and breathing heavy as soon as I stepped off the ship. I got right back on board for fear of walking into a hotter zone and overheating past the suit limit.
Now to search for a planet close to 0K
