I think there should be some Arx awarded for certain things like mapping since it does take a bit of time. I don't think 1 Arx per mapped planet is asking much and it would supplement the meager exploration earnings. I don't earn very many Arx out in the black, maybe 15-20 per session, but I also don't really focus on it. If I really wanted Arx I would do all the things listed by Varonica in post #2 but I have my way of doing things and I'm not going to change that just to get a few extra Arx in the bank.
Last time I turned in data I timed it for a server reset. Turned in some of my data before the reset to max my Arx then the rest the next day which hit my cap for that week as well, then I headed back out. That seems like a fairly efficient way of doing things to me. I've been out exploring pretty much ever since Arx dropped and I think I have 1100 which isn't a lot but hey, it's for free stuff so I can't complain too much.
