Asking for a steam key but it did ent give me one

I got elite dangerous a few days ago and tried to make an account for frontier. After I made the account and linked it to my steam it asked for a steam key even though the version I got came without a key. It won’t let me login to the account I made and says account locked every time I try to login. I tried making a new account and using that. It didn’t work. I tried to connect that account to my steam but it didn’t let me because the locked account is already connected to my steam. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but nothing changed. If anyone has any ideas or knows anything please help.

You aren't supposed to manually link Steam at the Frontier site.

Once you click "Play" in Steam, the Frontier launcher should show. Logging in to your Frontier account from there will link your Steam and Frontier accounts properly. If you've already manually linked Steam to your Frontier account, you'll have to unlink it first.

It's a confusing and convoluted method, but it's all we have.

The launcher will prompt for a key as a last resort when it's unable to detect any game access, which would suggest that it's either unable to see the link to Steam/Epic you have in place or to correctly utilise this to authenticate you.

If we have server issues or Steam/Epic has an outage, the launcher will sometimes lose the ability to query the third party platform for your product access, at which time you'll run into the issue you describe. This can also happen on first launch after linking your accounts.

If you don't see a 'Log in with Steam/Epic' button on the launcher when it loads, you may sometimes just need to fully restart your Steam client/Epic Games launcher to correct this.

If I launch the launcher separately from Steam and try to log in, an error immediately appears - no response or empty response from the server, basic connection. Windows 11;
I think this is the reason why I don’t see the license to launch
