Asp loadout help - class 5 FSD

New to the Asp - liking it so far. I could only stretch to a D rated FSD at point of purchase, and tbh the 14-ish ly jump range is killing me.

What sort of mega-credits do class 5 FSD cost (e.g. for a A or B rated ?), and were can I possibly find one ? I haven't seen hide nor hair of any class 5 kit on my trading routes so far, and I'm pretty much circumnavigating known space doing rare trading.

5A is 5.1mil
5B is 1.7mil

High population High Tech or Industrial stations are your best bet.
 
Thanks - that's quite a jump. Any idea what the jump range typically is with those ?

Yeah - I was thinking those were my best bets for finding a drive. The rare commodities tend to come from Agri worlds though, so I need to make a detour (when I've saved up some funds !)

Range is subjective depending on fittings and function, but to give you some comparisons...

an Asp fitted out with the absolute lowest size D components, no shield, weapons or modules (you'd never fit it like that obviously)... will do:

5A FSD: 35ly full tank, 38ly maximum
5B FSD: 28ly full tank, 30ly maximum

10% less in founders world but they are a must if you want to maximise your jump range
 
The B is 1.7 million but you can save that pretty quickly on any half decent trade loop if you strip down your Asp into a trade set up with 120tn of cargo.

The A class FSD is a luxury I think, the B should be good enough for quite a while unless you're going full on exploring.

I have a 5B in my ASP and I can jump 22.7 LY with it in one jump. Great if you want to go exploring with it.
 
The good thing about fuel scoops is that they weigh nothing, so for proper exploring buy a 6C scoop for 1.7MCr and wait a whole extra 25 seconds over a 6A to fill that big tank.

4A works lovely on my hauler taxis: point your nose at the horizon and nearly as soon as the FSD cools down you are full up!

Yep - this my my thought exactly. The B will get me the range I need, without costing TOO much. At the moment I'm taking between 8 and 10 jumps between stop offs on a Rare trading route, whereas with a B I think that'll cut down to 5, which will make it a lot faster to run.
