assassination mission: is it a bug ?

all assassination mission i did recently are indentical :

i exit supercruise; and 1 corvette or a conda is tracking a small convoy. the target is always alone , and the only agressor.
my rank are pretty high , deadly for fighting. Coulntd that being a little bit richer ?

i think i remember a previous version didnt offer me same stuffs. i got some convoy themself, and sometime "clean" pilot

You're doing the pirate lord assassinations, and yes, they are all pretty much the same, just the type of ship and rank of the pirate (target) changes.

The missions you are remembering are I believe the 'Wetwork' missions (or the much older and now gone kill religious leader / politician etc missions where the target was not wanted), which often sent you after clean targets that would be flying in a wing. I believe they still exist, it will just depend on the type of faction and probably system states where you are picking up missions.
