Hi guys, just got this gifted and I thought I share my opinion on the game since the reviews I've seen online are not actually saying everything as it is. (AC for short)
First of all let me say the engaging story that started with Altair in AC 1 died in AC Revelations with Ezio, since then the story has gone down for the sake of putting a new game every year, so is your regular run in the mill 3rd person action game with a good view of the century its in.
Graphics: Well they are HORRIBLE!! and not because they are bad (that doesn't make sense but bare with me). The texture and environment is great, lighting is awesome, it was pretty good in Black Flag already and they just bumped up the textures a bit which is a good thing, but the texture popping is way out of line, you are walking on street level and you can see npcs change clothing and gender in the blink of an eye, in crowded spaces (it can get really crowded) you can see as the devs just copied and pasted 1 npc over and over and over because sometimes you can even see them rhythmically do things. The framerate drops are ridiculous. I have a fairly decent system (8GB RAM, Core i5 2500k, nvidia 780ti) and I still get lag spikes in low settings, this is not a regular occurrence, but it is there and it can get annoying.
That is my main complain of this game, other than that is a great evolution of AC. The movements now seem very parkour like, you got control descent and what I appreciate most of all is you can turn off the HUD for greater immersion which also turns off the hand holding this game had. Combat is the same easy hit hit parry, but I don't play this game for its combat mechanics. Another great thing is that you are not longer bound to 1 way of approaching your target, you can go guns blazing or uber stealth (you get more points for that).
Do I recommend this game? Yes if you are a fan of AC. If you are looking for an action game with awesome story and combat mechanics this is not for you.If you are looking for the same engaging story the first 3 AC had, no this won't satisfy you..
A thing I don't understand is why everyone in Paris speaks perfect English, I remember Ezio and many of the other characters having a strong italian accent, aww well I can live with it
