ASW registry entry needed or not?

I recently uninstalled and re-installed the Oculus software. Before I did so I also wiped all Oculus-related registry entries, because reasons.

I noticed after I had installed the software that the entry for ASW in the registry was not there. Due to an issue I was having with the Rift I decided to manually add it to see if it helped (it didn't, the issue was due to something else...and it was really weird, but that's a story for another day).

Given that the debug tool allows you to set the ASW state, is the registry entry needed or not?

Thanks. ISTR someone saying the registry setting enabled the use of the hotkeys (i.e. NumPad+1 etc.), but then again that never worked for me anyway registry setting or not. In fact something is odd with my setup as I've never got any external sources (i.e. hotkeys) or "injectors" to work in the Rift (i.e. Virtual Desktop, V, AHK etc.). I managed to get V to inject once. Probably some obscure Windows setting.

Num pad keys work fine for me, and I haven't had the reg enabled for month.

V has also worked for me, it's still an absolute performance wise, and I highly recommend not having it.
I run all my windows settings as stock as I can really.

Only reason to go into the registry is to fix something very specific, or enable a specific hidden feature.
If you don't know everything you are doing 100%, well keep some backups handy.

OK thanks again. ASW value deleted, though I've kept the LibOVR key as I noticed the debug tool uses it for other stuff. Guess I should try the hotkeys and other VR tools again since I've re-installed.
