Attacked by invisible player

Seen this happen so many times. Either the player was in another instance but was able to see you or, the player was in solo and was bleeding into your instance. By any chance did you have anyone on your friends list in system? Possibly in solo?

Only ever had this happen to me once a while ago when the Quince surface mission boom was in full swing , no blips on radar , no obvious signs of life and started taking damage .. boosted away for a bit and spun around on a 180 to get a better look behind at my attacker as there was still nothing on radar ... nothing there and no weapon fire could be seen , then (mustve been after a moment while they caught up again) my shields went offline and destroyed ... the only thing i dont remember was if it showed a name or not on rebuy screen.

Although there was one instance in a wing fight were a friend asked for help but i couldnt see him yet he could see me.

I've mainly had that while hunting scouts with other players in the same instance, it lead to invisible and/or invincible Thargoids, very annoying.

The p2p instancing really needs to be reworked, yesterday there was a CMDR just sitting on a pad of the starport I was doing transport missions from, and everytime I came back to the station my performance dropped to almost unplayable levels, so I had to switch to solo at some point.

Yup, sounds like FDev netcode. Comman case if desynch. You could only jump out and hope it works next time. If it doesn't work then, restart your game. If that still doesn't work restart you everything etc. There is no real value or option you can edit to make this better, maybe reducing the MTU but then again, relyable it is not.
Pray to RNGesus and the FDL.

When I was in a wing (ages ago), my wingman came under attack from an NPC Vulture.
We could both see it, but neither of us could damage it.
My wingman tried to flee, but it kept up.
It was also able to outrun me, trying to distract it from my wingman, but nothing.
Then *boom* my wingman exploded.

Then the Vulture turned to me, and I could suddenly damage it, with ease.

A few seconds later we both got disconnected.
Upon logging in, my wingman was alive and well, almost exactly where he'd previously exploded, like it was all some horrible nightmare. Lol
