Attention, Megaship Shoppers!

Frontier has started up the blue light to remove the Trailblazer colonization supply ships. They may be gone this weekend.

Better stock up on refinery products, muon imagers, and emergency power cells.

Ohhh.. how do you know this?

Not like it was announced or anything...

"It is expected that, when economies and populations begin to settle, Brewer Corporation’s Trailblazer fleet of megaships which currently supply many colonies will be repurposed for other duties."
So as long as we keep the pace up and don’t let the economies and populations settle down then the Megaships will remain available.

If they were only going to exist for a few weeks, why did we bother with an entire CG? Bummer. There's always the chance that these "other duties" could be neat or relevant though.

If the Brewer Megaships go way on different ditties I will be really disappointed.

Move them around? Surely makes sense

Stop supplies for colonisation? Come on... Makes no sense at all

As long as we cannot get things like emergency power cells out of our own stations - because of the old “only produced in X radius of Y place” concept - I’m not really for removing them. Because practically every surface construction (if not all of them) use(s) emergency power cells in their builds and as yet no alternative mechanics to hauling exist for progressing construction which could bypass that.

And I don’t think “Fly 500-1,000+ ly to Bubble” for each time you need that one commodity, or to leave a carrier stuck filled with thousands of them near colonization projects for a long time, is something that qualifies as ‘engaging gameplay’ or ‘well designed’.

"Repurposed for other duties" is pretty clear those new duties won't be Trailblazer related. I think we have till after next weekend at the most 🤞

The question is, what purpose could they possibly serve. I don’t see Brewer using what is effectively giant, mobile production/distribution plants (or at least I assume they are) for war. And at least currently their colonization contact is disabled.

FD could easily setup a Trailblazer oriented CG where we have to setup facilities in a remote corner of the galaxy - with megaship help. But for now, they're just going to park these in a database somewhere. Maybe FD wants a stress test of how useful or stable the new colonies are 🤷‍♂️

They might be, or they’ll put them somewhere else with the “different purpose” in mind when the time comes. I suppose, we’ll have to see.

Well they are probably going to fail the “completely self-sufficient” check because of the emergency power cells that they are not going to produce unless Frontier allows for colonized systems’ ports to do so. But I guess 99% isn’t exactly a bad figure either.

Prep for Vanguards maybe (summer?)

I've not used these recently, anything in limited supply can usually be found elsewhere at a similar distance. While you can't stock up on several items so easily at other ports I can usually fill up on metals or something else and 2-3 of 200ly supply runs breaks up the 1 or 2 jump supply for more common goods

The current CG is secretly to build up fleet carriers for that day...

Just transporting their own internal cargo needs would be the in-game explanation.
