Attention, Megaship Shoppers!

And I don’t think “Fly 500-1,000+ ly to Bubble” for each time you need that one commodity, or to leave a carrier stuck filled with thousands of them near colonization projects for a long time, is something that qualifies as ‘engaging gameplay’ or ‘well designed’.
The only way to alter this is with a loud, collective, scream...

Next server tick.

If they do it now, FDevs please bring in one Titan and full-on Thargoid devastation of Brewer Logistics at HIP 90578.

And we should sit, observe and enjoy.

They may be gone this weekend.

Next server tick.

Unless you have additional information to support these comments, they're just guesses. As another commentor has said, it could be 3 days, 3 months or 3 years...or never.

Separately, what does "started up the blue light" mean for us non-Americans*? Is this similar to "given the green light" (as in, permission has been granted to proceed with a plan)? Genuinely interested.

*I'm presuming you're based around the East Coast US because of the Fahrenheit use and Time Zone comparison (your laptop clock and forum time). Apologies if i've mis-located and/or got the Nationality wrong - i'm hedging the numbers.

Неужели аварийные элементы питания все еще невозможно создать в глубоком космосе?

I'm sorry but that's just wishful thinking - unless someone has a source that FD has changed their minds and will retain the megaships for that long (3 years? even 3 months is a stretch)

The reason why player colonies population got boosted, along with goods production, is it was FD's plan all along for the colonies to supply the majority of construction material. The megaships were just a bandaid till we got to that point.

There was a specific department store in the US that was popular from the 60’s to the early 90’s called K-Mart.

They coined the phrase “blue light special” as a way to announce temporary deep discounts on random items at intervals.

Where does the term “blue light special” come from?

The only official statements we have are from these sources:
  1. 6th March 2025, announcement of the successful completion of the CG to enable deployment of the Brewer Megaships: https://www.elitedangerous.com/news/galnet/brewer-corporation-trailblazer-fleet-upgraded
  2. 19th March 2025, deployment of Brewer Megaships as 'colonisation support hubs' to 6 new locations: https://www.elitedangerous.com/news/galnet/trailblazer-fleet-deployed-support-colonisation-initiatives
  3. 25th April 2025, Trailblazers Update 3 goes live: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elite-dangerous-trailblazers-update-3-now-live.636973/
  4. 30th April 2025, Galnet article that OP posted which states "It is expected that, when economies and populations begin to settle, Brewer Corporation's Trailblazer fleet of megaships which currently supply many colonies will be repurposed for other duties."
Given Update 3 has been out for only one weekly tick so far, I do not understand how the OP (or you) have any supporting information to believe that they're going "this weekend" or "next server tick", which is what i'm challenging. The Population boom (from Update 3) will grow on each weekly maintenance tick; the growth is based on a curve and will grow quickly for the first month before slowing to a more gradual pace. The point made about Population Size enabling greater commodity production is correct, what's not stated anywhere (implied or otherwise) is that the Trailblazer fleet is going to (Vanish | Move | Change) "this weekend" or "next server tick", which is what i'm calling out as guesswork or hyperbole.

Well we'll see. Ralph said this week's server tick and I said the longest it'll stay is after this weekend. People who know us are already aware that these timelines are based on what we think FD will do based on their behaviour in other cases over these past few years. They're free to agree or disagree, to take our advice or not. They don't have a problem with what we said.

I'm ok with people saying "My guess is..." and not having supporting evidence, however the statements are made as fact, currently, which doesn't benefit anyone (commanders are already unhappy about Fleet Carrier parking spots near the Megaships, a 'rush' to buy based on a guess is not going to help matters). I personally think the information suggests at least one month following the Update 3 deployment:
  • when economies and populations begin to settle [megaships repurposed]
  • [population] growth is based on a curve and will grow quickly for the first month before slowing to a more gradual pace
That's the only statements we have that talk about a timescale in any way and I see that there's a loose relationship between those two statements. That's my interpretation of the official comms.
I'm not saying that your experiences don't provide insights, quite the opposite; it's really good to provide that context when making statements, it helps others (particularly newer commanders that may not be aware of your standing) make informed decisions. Sure, we can never be certain (and sometimes i'm sure FDev don't know!) when something is going to happen...until it does. ;)

Fair enough, I can't speak for Ralph but I certainly will make it clearer when it's an educated guess.

What made me perk my ears in this case is FD suddenly boosting population and economy without people asking for it. Usually it takes time for them to make a move even when it's a hot issue and people are clamoring for a fix. Then the Galnet news about Brewer intending to repurpose the Trailblazer megaships came out right after and things became crystal clear. FD rushed the change with little warning so the megaships will be reallocated soon.

You may be right that it'll take a month, that period will give people enough time to prepare.

(re: standing, what standing? After all these years the regulars just know each other well - warts and all 😊)
