Newcomer / Intro Audio-logs of generation ships

I've done this before, but I haven't played for a year or two, now I can't figure it out.
To familiarize myself with the game again, I went to the Lazarus Generation ship.
But I can't figure out how to detect the Data-links I need to scan.
How do I do this?
I've flown slowly over the ship, very close, three times now, but nothing pops up.
Also, several attempts of google-searches didn't provide an answer either
(I've noticed all logs are available on Youtube, but hey: I want to immerse myself into the game. That's cheating... )

I figured it out.
It turns out that my Hotas-settings had changed a bit, for some reason.
So when I reconfigured cycle-firegroups, I was able to choose the right scanner, then I scanned the ship itself. (Although I thought my ship did that on its own ...)

It is a slightly different scanner and much shorter ranged, in long nosed ships it sometimes seems like you will collide before the scanner is in range.

If you want to cheat with slightly more style and immersion: Canonn Research has all kinds of audio logs. Properly researched, catalagued, and often with more in-game context.
