Audiobooks: purchase using ARX, add to Codex as playable files

lets not turn this around, lets not turn this into wanting something for free as it doesn't have to be (yet this is what you are focusing on)
I still don't see an answer to my question
what's the negative in gameplay in having this as an option?
It is not a sound suggestion as the value added is only a value to someone that wants something for free. As to the gameplay negatives, you are asking for more overhead in the game, you are asking for development time be devoted to making this work, you are asking for Frontier to have to devote time to each Copyrighted work that you want added to the library so that they don't violate the law.
The underlined sections, which you apparently ignored, all amount to time investments, and I am pretty certain that MORE OVERHEAD in a game is a negative.

unless you work for fdev that's an assumption
the implementation of this would not have any negative effect on gameplay as it would be an option and not forced on everyone

the purpose of the suggestion thread is to "Post your suggestions, feedback, and feature requests for the universe of Elite here" I don't see that as worrying about development costs or time, as that is not our worry, it's about posting ideas that could make the game better and commenting on if that would be of benefit in game or not.

we obviously have 2 very different interpretations on what the suggestions section of this forum is for and therefore wont agree (which is fine by the way, I don't expect everyone to)

I'll leave it at that

You are correct that this is the Suggestions forum. I am Suggesting that your request not be implemented because it is an unneeded feature in terms of the player because other tools exist that can do the job.

As to the other elements, I can only hope that, some day, someone looks at something you create and says, how about you just give it to me because I think it is cool but don't want to pay you for your work. You might understand why I object to the proposal then.

again with the free argument
ow and (just to be transparent) its not my suggestion/request

Your repeatedly stated argument is that YOU don't want to pay for it. You don't care how it is done as long as you get something without having to give up anything except fiat money that can be acquired for no fiscal exchange, only an investment in game play that you had already commited to yourself.

It is a Bread and Circuses argument.

Blimey @Chrystoph it was only a suggestion for an optional purchase. No need to full on go off and character assassinate me and other posters as a bunch of freeloaders.

Admittedly I had overlooked that one gets ARX simply for playing. I and others would have been perfectly happy to pay for it.

Also, when managing development of anything, whether it's a large scale IT project, a housing development, a marketing scheme or whatever, most sensible businesses would do a bit of consumer research to assess demand for a feature, do a cost/profit analysis, and then only if the projections fit would they commit resources to developing whatever it is.

You seem to be a bit worried that FDev may see this post, immediately think "yay great, let's do it! Sod atmospheric planetary landings and walking around ships!" and then put a team of 100 C# devs, graphics specialists, sound-design engineers full-time on implementing it at the expense of everything else in the game.

In the highly remote event that anyone at FDev reads this and decides to implement it, it would likely just be a small side project, low-priority, and even then only done if business analysis deemed it workable and profitable for FDev (the profits from which would be used to invest in other aspects of the game). And that's for FDev to decide, not you or I matey.

You think it's a crappy idea? Great, but no need to take that hectoring tone with everyone here.

Noted, I should not hector, nor shall I presume the worst of people, nor shall I engage in name calling and false endearments.

No in both cases. Reclamation is available from Audible or direct from the publisher.

As for Premonition, fdev refused permission to create it, so it's not available in any audio format.

Cheers,

Drew.
Links for Reclamation? and which you'd rather have purchased?
