August Dev Diary, your hopes and expectations

i think the dev diary will be a single page of info that adds a bit more on what we know now. Will probably include a pic or two and maybe a short say 5-6 second video sequence of something.

Subsequent diarys will then start to flesh individual aspects of the expansion out in a deeper dive.

Look at the planet zoo dev diaries for example for the level of detail. Now remember that due to everyone working from home there wont be a slick video presentation. So i expect things to be far more basic eg mainly text based. Something very much like the Newsletter we get.

Journalists from the big gaming mags will get access to more info over the coming months. I expect one or more magazines to get privileged access to extra info and possibly get to play test the internal beta. Something that i understand members of the Elite content community have already been offered.

I would have thought that anyone still in this community by this point, would have learned by now, not to set hopes and expectations on anything where Frontier are concerned .... I guess we're still getting new people join the community.

If I thought like that I'd not be willing to play the game or consider buying the DLC or any of their other products at all. Seems odd to hang around here if that's how you feel.

I'm fine with FDEV's stuff and I'm looking forward to more.

I think they will discuss the design process of planetary base interiors and maybe how the new scatter rock and surface generation system works, maybe the challenges of developing a walking system for different gravities and terrain.

I don't think they'll talk yet about any features we don't already know about (I suspect there will be no word on ship interiors), but will give deeper info on the stuff we know to be coming, how it will work, hint at what the level of diversity might be.

They know keeping folk asking/demanding answers keeps the game trending, so they probably won't give us any major money shots/hope crushing in Dev Diary 1.

I am more excited about the ships that can arrive than the legs, I want something that makes me say: Take my money! I am fed up with medium and small ships, I want a ship that makes the Corvette look like a sidewinder and I hope that we are not always limited to 213m in length.

  • several new carrier types
  • thargoid content
