August Exodus - A Jaunt to Jaques

Hi,

Just wanted to add a couple more pics from the meet last night.

A few of us weren't able to get into the main instance ( I like to think of us as the 'Zoidberg Wing') so we made our own fun.
That's my python down front, I didn't get the other commanders names as my recording software died on me.

We weren't brave enough to try bridges or shenanigans of that sort, or we didn't have time (I think we were all latecomers).
So SRVs were the order of the day. There is a crater near the middle of the camp that made a great skate park. SRVs can jump quite a way even at 0.8G!

I may or may not have landed on top of someone elses SRV, all I can say is the blue flash of an SRV repair is quite cool from the outside...

I think most of us managed to just about get winged up for the jump, though I didn't have time to take a proper position.
It looked pretty damn good though!

Hope to see you guys again soon, though I doubt I will keep up as I am afk for a few days now.

Fly froody, Commanders!

CONVOY 1 - use your AFMU on your cargo hatch

reports trickling in of cargo loss via cargo hatch malfunction.

if the modulintegrity gets down, chance of a malfunction increases and can happen with every jump (new instance) and every damage (crash star, overheat during jump).

upper numbers, from when these malfunctions happen aren't clear, reported are below 90%, below 85%, and beow 80% on these forums - if you want to play it safe, keep your cargo hatch above 90%!

first time in my career as a pilot that i used an AFMU to repair my cargo hatch - but i really don't want to loose my CG cargo on the last quarter of my haul to jaques.

Given that an AFMU reload is a cheap synthesis, I see no reason not to repair everything that it lets you repair, from time to time. I do it when parked on a planet, to avoid the embarrassment of damage from dropping out of supercruise when you switch stuff off ...

Hello I am currently in my own convoy of 1 with a 12ly jump range... any slow runners, tailgaters or general slow coaches wish to join up, I will be bounding about tomorrow for a bit.. and again during Lave Radio show at 830pm BST

Since CMDR Halcyone has fallen behind somewhat, I could do that if we are somewhere close.

I saw you yesterday about 1400 ly behind me. I guess you will catch up fairly quickly, so we may meet en route! Can't promise anything though, my gaming sessions are erratic at best.

Hmm.. if you say so, havent paid much attention to galaxy map as i watch movies with Vive while flying. :D
My goal is to reach Jaques at Thursday, as i have 6000Ly to go and i can do 2000Ly per day and unfortunately, im also on tight gaming sessions so im heading straight to Jaq.

Be careful not to repair Life Support too often though. Every time you do it you lose a few seconds of precious oxygen.

I don't repair life support. It doesn't malfunction until 0% I tested it.

interesting! same goes for AFMU itself. question, do you have malfunctioning thresholds for other moduls? cargo hatch, thrusters, FSD ... i was reading all king of numbers between <90%, <85%, <80% around these forums.

I'm going to be starting a run to Jaques in the next couple of days as an entry in the Buckyball race to Jaques, and will also be freeing some slaves for CMDR Souvarine's noble effort.

Would it be okay if I registered with the August Exodus (on EDSM at least), even though my run falls between the two expeditions? Unfortunately I didn't hear about this until after convoy 1 left, and convoy 2 will be too late for the race.

Not really, just about the numbers you stated. I made it to Jaques with 84% cargo hatch and no malfunctions. For 19kly it was at 86% or below. But like you recommended now I have an AFMU I will be keeping it above 90% to be safe. I thought the threshold was 85% based on my anecdotal Buckyball racing experiences lol. I may just have been lucky on my first run.

It is easy to test. I equipped a sidewinder with an AFMU and went and parked by a star. The only things I specifically tested was life support and powerplant. Neither of which malfunctioned until 0%. The power plant can't be repaired by the AFMU but a reboot repair "normally" puts it back to 1%.

I am plowing a solo furrow in a 20LYr Cutter with a 6A fuel scoop (don't ask...)

Currently 1kLYr is approx 58 hops and an hour and twenty minutes of honk'n'scoop. My PC seems to suffer from extended hyperspace times, frequently in the 30 to 45 second bracket.

I passed Eagle last night, well I straight-lined it towards the next !kLYr marker...

This enterprise may well be the end of me!

I thought, perhaps incorrectly, that if you turned off your cargo hatch it would not begin ejecting errant cargo no matter how low it was on integrity?

I would love to sign up ... the problem is that I'm currently AT Jaques Station having arrived on my way back from Beagle Point. If Jaques' services come back online before the end of the mining CG and I can purchase a mining laser I'd like to participate ... otherwise I'm pretty much just stuck here at the station waiting for repair services. Since I won't be traveling with any of the groups (already here) and my participation in either CG is dependent on Jaques' services coming back online am I disqualified?
