Australia Roster Appreciation Post

Largest is the Houston Zoo.

I've been to Moody Gardens, which has a tropical house and aquarium. Houston Downtown Aquarium. Irapuato Zoo. Leon Zoo. Various small roadside zoos. Crocodile Encounters.

Not one had an emu. That's why I'm kinda meh about it's inclusion, although that doesn't mean I don't like it or won't use it

Darthquell is an enigma, the one exception to the rules of what australian animals have been seen

Actually for a Simulator Zoo Game I think Australia is practically complete and what the community really misses is just the Tasmanian Devil, cause it's the last iconic animal from that region.

Now South America is still the weakest continent without enough tree animals like new world monkeys, sloths, etc. and of course flying birds.

Honestly, I've only seen 3 Australian species in my life:

Common wombat
Koala
Wallaby (unsure of species)

In my mind, I have the complete roster🤪🤣. But seriously, though, I'd like the following:

Tasmanian devil
Kiwi

In my opinion, I'm satisfied with just those 2
For me:
  • Kangaroo
  • Koala
  • Emu
  • Wallaby
Never seen kiwi, devils, tree kangaroo, enchida etc

I think this thread just goes to show that in general, the community is happy with how Australia is. We all want the Tassie.

To represent Oceania, we all want the kiwi and tree kangaroo and little blue penguin.

4 animals that actually all could fit a hypothetical Islands DLC

It's by far less requested than the other 3 you listed. Personally I wouldn't want to give a slot in an island pack to a third penguin.
What about if it were an animal pack? I mean, the order was turned around for the Twilight and Grasslands, but maybe the next pack will be an animal pack?

Yep, an island dlc will complete the main fauna of australia (tasmania) and oceania easily
I think to fix the problem that I told about lack south american fauna it can be solve with a combo of rainforest animal pack and our aviary dream

There would still be animals in higher priorities for me:
  • Kiwi
  • Fossa
  • Taz Devil
  • Tree Kangaroo
  • Echidna
  • Crested Macaque
  • Aye-aye
  • Sifaka
  • Black swan
  • Japanese Serow
...

And this is even without counting aviary birds

In my opinion it comes back to “we don’t need” meaning “I don’t want”.
Which blows my mind anyway, because "I don't want" always actually means "I believe support is ending soon for some reason (so I want as few animals as possible)". IMO we should always base our wishes on "infinite support" since we really have no idea where the finish line is.

Anyway for Australia my biggest wants would be:
  • Devil.
  • Grey kangaroo.
  • Rainbow lorikeet (WE).
  • Common brushtail possum.
  • Assorted finches (WE) - Gouldian, zebra, etc.
  • Lace monitor.
  • Bearded dragon (E).
  • Cape Barren goose.
And for NZ:
  • Kiwi.
  • Tuatara (E).
And for the Crossover Episode:
  • Blue penguin.
  • Australasian fur seal.

I would leave it to the Oceania players to know what belongs in this area 🤣 To me an Australian zone is like a bunch of kangaroos and some emu

Internationally that is usually the case (hence why I'm also so conservative with NZ, as our 'exports' basically revolve around three species; North Island brown kiwi, tuatara, and kea, but I don't see the kea as likely until we have a clearer idea of what the plan is for Walkthrough Exhibits). However I believe there needs to be a balance between what is common everywhere and what is common in regionally local zoos; if North America can get a bunch of species barely kept in overseas collections, then so too should Australasia.

Ironically in NZ the Australian species that are common include the Tasmanian devil, since pretty much all our zoos joined the "Save the Devil" programme.
