Elite Dangerous Australian Community Thread

Hi all.
I live in Brisbane, Queensland .
Fairly close to the city in a suburb called Taringa.
From Perth, Western Australia though and lived many years in Sydney, NSW as well.
Up until a couple of years ago, was living/working overseas in various countries for the last 20 years.
Here to stay now in Oz though.
I played Elite on the C64 many years ago when I was about 16.
Then Privateer 2, X wing Vs Tie fighter, Freelancer, Evochron mercenary, most of the X series (stupidly bought X rebirth tho!).
I dabbled with various other space sims too, but the ones above were the ones I played the most.

I would be up for some sort of meetup and when ED comes out, even hosting a LAN party as my house.
I have a dedicated gaming room downstairs which I use for Tabletop RPGs, but could easily be adapted to host lots of PCs.

Thanks, nice to know there's lots of Fellow Elite fans in Australia.
It's still early days though. The numbers may well dramatically increase, especially when the game is actually released.
Aussie Pilots
G'day all,
I'm in victoria and have been looking forward to this game for over 20years since first playing on my friends BBC micro.
I am actually building a rig just to play this game and would like any suggestions on specs.
I'm currently looking at the following
I5-4570
Asrock fatality
16 gskill trident x
I'm undicided on GPU nvidia or amd so would love some input.
On another note we Aussies should be looking at creating a pilots group or alliance for when the game starts. So have we started thinking of commander names ships name and possible alliance names.

How did you survive those 4 days in a row of 40 degrees ?
Whilst there are no guilds per se in Elite Dangerous people will be able to go online on closed multiplayer groups they won't be able to see anyone else, that's as close as it gets.
THere are several hardware threads on here as well you could have a look at. I'm playing on my i7 laptop with 8 gig ram and an nvidia 525M card....plays perfectly fine for me.
I get 19 FPS, I have all the graphics on low, 19 FPS is more than enough, everything looks fine. One of the threads is here: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=41
Valkyrie is, but also many others, there are even special aussie thread (can't find it)
I also had quick blast at lunch, and managed to find another player. Cant remember the name.
