Newcomer / Intro Australians unable to connect since last weekly update

There are a whole bunch of support tickets for Australians unable to connect since the last weekly update Thursday.

Your earliest attention would be appreciated.

Sandgroper. Just logged in and stayed in for a while. But I was just checking some things out and not actually playing and it's instance changes that tends to bring the Orange Sideys. 🤷‍♂️

I have had no problems getting in (mid north coast NSW) since the issues a couple of weeks ago (lots of snakes).

The only problem I have had is the stuttering problem which has caused me to just drop out of the game a few times (no snakes) and that problem is not limited to Aussies.

Edit : I don't use VPN.

Been on and off for a while myself, remote in WA, only a couple of connection issues yesterday.

Regarding the stuttering problem I did have a funny few minutes the other but sorted that. Funny thing, it looked like stars appearing and disappearing every second or so, then I realised it was the space dust stopping for a fraction of a second, as people say microstuttering, not something I usually experience, so I checked to see what was running and realised that Firefox had a huge number of heavy pages loaded and stacks of processes because I had been using it a lot before firing up Elite, after shutting Firefox down the problem went away.

Consider that just because a program isn't using a lot of memory or CPU doesn't mean it isn't using a lot of PC resources, if you are having this stuttering problem I suggest shutting everything else down and see if that makes a difference, yes even AV. If it does make a difference then start the programs one at a time until you find the culprit. Of course this is only my personal experience and may not work for other people but it may help some.

Good suggestions.

I did try all that (I only have an older system and firefox loves taking large chunks of it), the stutter mostly happens for a few minutes after a certain time (there is a bug report for it ). I could scream "literally game-breaking" but it's only annoying occasionally :)

There is also a thread if anyone else is experiencing it.

I'm in NZ, been having similar issues. The first time connecting I almost always get an orange sidewinder error. It usually connects when I try the second time, if not the third. So, it doesn't seem to be totally broken. Once I'm connected it tends to stay connected, although going in and out of supercruise can take longer than normal sometimes.
