Auto dock/launch smashing my ship into the station

Abundance else having this issue?

Anytime I am flying a large ship, like my anaconda, or type 9, the auto Dock bashes my ship around in the access corridor, and when launching, often thrusts vertically, until it smacks, into the adjacent side of the docking bay, and then, also ,rattles around in the access corridor.

Heh yeah, but my type 9 is the worst in this regard. Though my anaconda seems to like dropping into the ground on planetary approach as welll, burning lateral thrusters, or even main engine, does absolutely nothing until i have bounced on the surface a few times, it doea not happen everytine either, and yes, I have the planetary approach module on all of my ships

When I fly most of my ships that do have ADC, I don't engage it until I'm through the mail slot...

If I'm on a pad upfront by the slot and get put in a que, it will slam my ship into the wall, if I don't go into a que, it will go through the slot just fine. If I'm on a rear pad further away from the slot it works just fine in or out of the que. I just take manual control if it looks like it's going to bounce me around.

Happens occasionally to me, but I always have my hands on the stick so I can prevent any damage, consider it more a driver assist like in a Tesla car, if it starts getting hairy it panics and closes its eyes! It's easy enough to take over and save the ship from Damage.

Time to return to old good manual docking, plus one slot free for other use.

Also noted bashing corridor with Anaconda in Odyssey, made few test in Horizons and all goes perfectly. Seems as Odyssey bug. On FC and outposts all landings was perfect.
Just got the Anaconda and every single time it bumps either the side or the top of the entry/exit to a station. Usually it knocks the shields down a couple of points and that's it, but it's still annoying.

I have the very rare instances in busy stations of the head butting the wall with the Federal Corvette, so I keep my eye on it in case that starts to happen. My Imperial Cutter is my miner, so it's manual landing and takeoff. It's a pain, but at least I have no issues.

I play mostly Horizons and never had problem with auto dock in this version, first time was yesterday in Odyssey because I want set FC services available only in Odyssey and made short trip to trade raw materials in Tanner City where conda hits corridor and lost 10% shields. Fortunately this setup has no boost available (space explorer, maximized jump range).

I'm playing Odyssey. My Conda is about the same. It's about half way engineered with a 69 LY jump range at present.
Seriously with fleet carrier I'm done with engineering forever, different play style. Odyssey has long way ahead to decent application yet. After last patches conda can't land on planet surface in Odyssey. I hope they not mess Horizons to unplayable crap with continuous so called "compatibility patches".

I don't understand why people have a problem manually undocking large ships, there is a specially-provided visual cue so all you need to do is DON'T ADJUST PITCH* - use vertical and lateral thrusters combined with rotation to line-up with the slot - when the station marker is a bar, you are aligned with cente-line - just move out straight ahead now:

aligning 01.jpg

aligning 02.jpg

* Particularly important for the Anaconda.

Aligning for entry can be more fiddly but there are the visual cues for that too - the three lights at the rear of the docking bay are your friend for that.

(I admit to using a standard DC just because I am lazy but I often override it with a bit of throttle until I am inside the station and just let it settle on the pad.)

lol only played this game since its launch and did not notice it turns rectangular
still I use FA off a lot and have never auto docked ever apart from when in a cab, never even fitted the module...….
still haven't grasped what rotatational assist is I mean I know the concept is to counter the Coriolis effect
I presume I am correct in saying with fa off it is redundant anyways

Erm, i've played this game for a long time. Auto dock seems to want to kill me. I can land my ship manually without issue but choose to use auto dock, its a game-play option. The last time we had auto dock issues was an issue with infinite options that engineering had. Its either that or Fdev have decided to reintroduce a killer autodock?

Depending on ship and station it's always been a bit murderous, that's why we don't use AI for more stuff in the year 3000+, it always tries to kill you in the end!

I was good at flying my ship into the mail slot at full speed back in original Elite. So docking has never been a prob. I do use it after entering the space station on occasion.
