Something I am hoping to see in the future is automated dynamic trading between systems. Let me elaborate: Let's say you decide you want to setup a trade company on Sol. You buy a few Type 6s or whichever trade vessel you prefer, and task them to trade certain commodities from Sol to other systems and so on.
These ships are piloted by AI that you hire based on a skill set. They take a portion of your profits based on their skill level. In this example an Elite AI pilot will successfully deliver cargo and evade interdiction easier, but would command more of the total profit than an AI at a level of Penniless.
Other players, and AI will be able to attack and destroy your trade vessels so there is still a risk to who you hire. You as the owner will also be able to change and outfit your Merchant Fleet as you see fit, and be able to assign escorts to your ships based on the hiring system suggested above.
Escort Missions could be created by players to help protect high value cargo, and put an amount on it paid out of pocket by those now making tons of profit from their high value cargo.
On the player side of things you still must stop at your trade enterprise's home base (Sol in this case) to add the trade funds to their account. All actions would happen in real time so that players would still be interested in missions, combat, Mining, etc.
Just a thought I had. Anyone else think there should be something like this?
