Average age of ED player ?

Hello,

I am just curious about the age of average ED player. Are there some stats or was there some pool in the past ?

I am asking, because I was playing the first Elite in 1984-1985 on ZX-Spectrum and I already was at the legal age back in this time (in RL, I was born 1965). After that, I played the Frontier and Frontier First Encounter back in 90s.
So, I am curious if I am alone or if there are more peoples (old veterans) like me :)

Start game --> Immediately save commander --> Game glitches --> Elite mission available: "Our sun is going nova - save us" :D

However...that was from just after the Kickstarter ended. Higher age among players at that point isn't surprising due to nostalgia being a major factor behind funding this game. Since then the average age has probably gone down quite a bit...hard to say how much...

Having said that...I'm 35.

Hi! You are not alone. I played the original Elite on my C64. I missed the other two due to lack of cash. :)
Solved that problem. :D

But that was back in Feb. The age differences are probably more normalized. Would like to see a new poll to ask the same question.

The poll is open to vote in still and people bump it occasionally.

I wonder what the curve would look like if the poll asked for mental age :eek: :D

I did not know this trick at these times. It took me couple of months (and couple of 90 min cassettes with game saves) to become E L I T E and did this "Nova" mission.
But those are nice memories. I should have the whole box with the sci-fi novel and the plastic copyright gizmo (called LensLock ???) somewhere... :)

I see, thanks a lot. It seems that the game is full of "old dogs". Maybe I will try the Open game one day and have some chat :)
