Well, never played any of the originals, and this has been the first game I've played with a full HOTAS (Saitek X52 Pro) set-up, not to mention Edtracker with the magnetometer (works every time, no probs with drift at all).

Hmmm. I don't want to call the age discriminatory card, but truth be told I don't see many kids being drawn to this game. I never played old Elite as I didnt know about it plus I was around 8yrs old.
Even then, I don't see this geek-nerd-oriented game calling for the blood-sex-quick-now masses.
Dont expect age average coming down even at the imminent launch in Xbox. Video games in general and much less like this, are not for kids anymore.

I'm 37 which i'd assume is about average or in the younger 50%. I played the original on the BBC but not in 1984 as I was only 6 but I think I started in around '87 or '88, I was certainly still in primary school
