Axis of items

Hello!

I figured that building big wall out of chain link fences would be easy. Build few fences on top of each other, then select them all and copy them with ctrl+x... Well, no, the axis gets messed up. I try clicking the "change axis to world/item" but it doesn't change anything. Sometimes it happens even if I'm not copying multiple items, but when copying single item...

Please take a look at my screenshots.

How to "fix" the axis?

The axis for copying certain objects can be really weird and frustrating to work with. Sometimes I find that adding another section of your group like more mesh fences returns the axis to normal. If this doesn't work, the easiest option to do advanced move and duplicate each individual fence

Odd. World axis should provide a fixated axis based on the map rather than the orientation of the items. If the item does not "align" with the world axis, it means the item is in a rotated state compared to the map's axis.

But why the item's axis turn out to be "rotated"? That is a good question. Axis of a group which consists of multiple items can have a "twisted" axis. That's because many items have different axis, and they influence how the group's axis are oriented.

What I do is to align all components to the world axis from the beginning. It does help me with aligning the group to the world axis.

This. Put more objects in your selection and the axis should be normal (in most cases). I often use a wall for this. It is annoying though, often it looks as if the axis is straight but it isn't and you still have to adjust the objects. The game is full of these annoying little things. Recently I actually spend a half hour (at least) connecting 2 paths so they looked somewhat decent. It should not be so hard.
