AZIMUTH CONDUCTS AX WEAPONS RESEARCH

The corporation Azimuth Biotech has outlined its plans to support the war effort against the Thargoids by improving ship anti-xeno firepower.

CEO Torben Rademaker was interviewed on The Tau Ceti Journal’s official ICE-cast, where he explained:

“As you may recall, one of the many reasons Aegis became redundant was its poor record in improving AX armaments past the initial rush of designs. Azimuth Biotech has established a research and development division specifically designed to correct their failings at a steady, sustainable pace.”

“One of the inherent limitations with Aegis’s designs is the maximum number of AX weapons that a ship can be outfitted with. The enhanced versions based on Ryder and Nemo’s designs share this limitation. We seek to increase the upper limit of AX weapons a ship can utilise, and our research teams are already reporting promising results.”

One of the ICE-cast’s interactive audience questions asked why Azimuth was not working with Proteus Wave technology to build more anti-xeno superweapons. Rademaker replied:

“Under my guidance, the corporation has moved away from Salvation’s esoteric field of research and adopted a more conventional direction. It seems clear to me that the superweapon project led by my predecessor was, ultimately, a failure.”

Rademaker also answered an accusation that Azimuth was responsible for the loss of life in HIP 22460, and that he should face trial for ‘causing the Thargoid Maelstroms’:

“Sadly, I often come across such simplistic blame-seeking from those with limited comprehension of the issue. The plain fact is that nobody could have predicted the Thargoids’ excessive reaction to our activities in HIP 22460. The Proteus Wave was deemed an acceptable means of ending the war, approved by individuals with far more military experience than Salvation could claim.”

Rademaker’s only response to a subsequent barrage of abuse from a member of Operation Wych-Hunt was less verbose. The interview feed was terminated.

Despite a megaship that never arrived in T Tauri and the failure to establish research facilities in Wandrama after a defeat against nasty rabblerousers, Azimuth Biotech still does whatever it wants, whenever it wants! Mysterious. It seems as it's almost impossible to reshape the galaxy.

They're the only game in town after we (the players) decided to bring down AEGIS in preference for them. We did reshape the galaxy - this was our choice.

Finally the limit of 4 AX weapons will be removed :)
The only upgrade of enhanced AX Weapons is rapid fire, useful for scouts and cyclops but useless above.
If we get this, i'm pretty sure there will be a bigger threat or a new interceptor stronger and more resistant than Hydras

Apart from all of us who did predict an escalation from the Thargoids to Azimuth's project... But never let facts get in the way of . 🤥 🐄💩

Bit late for what?
Following the CGs and the decisions that came about as a result of our efforts, FDev will have already laid out the various story paths that will continue with the thargoid war. Since our efforts in the CGs favoured Azimuth as being among the main players they have to maintain a strong presence within the upcoming storyline or it really will feel like nothing we do matters.

That doesn't mean our efforts to disrupt them now won't eventually trip them up, but equally there's a chance that fighting amongst ourselves now could put us at a disadvantage against the thargoids later.

Supporting AEGIS would still have led to a thargoid war somehow, but with the infighting that will result from originally supporting Azimuth, this part of the story might now have taken a turn where we could have been in a stronger position. However we can't (and shouldn't) just undo choices that were part of a 2 year story as Salvation was.

Indeed, one third of the playerbase predicted it. But oh well, who could've thought.
A good number of players could well have picked their sides based on "this guy's an obvious lunatic but it makes for a good story" or "ooh shiny modules" rather than actually thinking he was the good guy. I don't know anyone who actually thought Salvation wasn't an egotistical nutjob.
The game would be boring if the baddies just got instantly prevented from doing anything the week after they appear in galnet!

There's zero evidence for any of your statements. Just opinion.

There was literally one versus Azimuth CG, and that was Tanners assault on Hind Mine. It failed. Even if it hadn't, chances are it would have as much influence on the story as the last successful CG to prevent Azimuth from expanding its facilities and research assets: none.

I wonder if Frontier is trolling us, I suspect that some of us will have to consider morality when faced with the CG to support Azimuth for new shinies... :D

Think they might've simply underestimated the hate for Azimuth or wrote them a bit more villainy than intended, and now they're stuck with it.
