Back to the Cobra MKIV I go!

That'd be great if there was an efficient mod for rails. Yes you can get heat reduction as a secondary for sturdy mount but the extra mass reduces the already woeful speed of the CM4
Yeah, I figured most of the benefit would come from engineering other components like the PP, thrusters (finally a use for clean drives) and even the FSD for minimum heat. Not sure it'd be enough to really offset the rails, even with sturdy mounts. Either way it would manoeuvre like a brick and have a terrible jump range and boost speed, but it's basically a slow lumbering turret of a build anyway as soon as you fit the fixed rails. Maybe go the whole hog and put HRPs / MRPs in the unused slots so it can just sit there and snipe until its ammo runs out or it boils itself to destruction. :D

It's really quite a depressing ship when you first buy it, especially considering its lineage. With engineering it becomes passable. Still don't get why they didn't price it higher and make it a direct Asp E competitor - we need multiple ships competing with each other in each tier. Especially as a limited availability ship.

Just for those unfortunate CMDR's that cannot access the Cobra Mk4 or the Black Friday paintjob - here is how it looks:

Enjoy :D

May I have a quick rundown how MK IV is better than MK III? Any chance it has a higher range or an additional internal slot so that I can make it an exploration ship with hangar and two tanks?

EDIT: Wow, it actually has quite a few additional slots and at marginally lower jump range you can get a lot of stuff installed. I guess I'll switch.

I see the MK IV as a smaller Python, as it has a enough extra slots to make it a very versatile ship, much like the Python.

It has 4x size 4, 2x size 3 and 2x size 2 slot, so that is 2 extra slots over the Mk 111 - plus it has an additional small hardpoint with much better weapon placement than the MK III.

Mk IV loses out on jump range and speed, but with a bit of engineering, you can close that gap significantly.

Great little ship and I like using it because its a little different and makes a nice break from my large ship fleet.

Despite the name and the look, those are drastically different ships very little in common with each other. I have both and neither replaces the other.

Fill her up with anti corrosive racks in every nook and cranny and start plundering Thargoid nests. Make around five million per visit!

It's the low-end Python. Slow as a gravel truck, even engineered.

As a non-combat ship the T6 is way better all around and for roughly the same money.
If you plan on fighting you may disregard the above.
The T6 is a lover not a fighter.

Mine can cruise around 270, and boost to 400 - fully loaded with weapons and reinforcements. It isn't that slow, it's adequate.

Dang. Mine only gets 254/381. Either i'm heavier than you or i need to do some more rollin'. Unfortunately a bit far away from it, so can't check my optimal multiplier, and EDDI hasn't captured the data on it.

I believe mine is currently sitting at 230/340ish. Still fiddling with thing though. Like where I'm at with it so far.
