General / Off-Topic Back to the Futuro: the spaceship house that landed in Yorkshire

For some reason I immediately thought of this:

..... which I find disturbing as I can't stand Woody Allen and his stupid films.

Round homes are impractical. Furniture is designed for square rooms, paintings are designed for straight, not curved walls.

Hard to disagree with this, because it's obviously valid.

The elements of conventional walls are things like bricks, steel girders, lumber etc, and they are supplied in rather straight lines. But we humans aren't made that way, and our surroundings maybe should conform more to us than to our factories. We do start off in wombs rather than little crates.

Naturally occurring building elements are certainly not naturally squared off. Like this old fashioned stone silo, next to a machined wooden barn:

Here's a picture of a sofa:

( sorry about the silly size)
It looks more comfy than a straight backed one to me- or at least equally so.

There are lots of round tables, beds and chairs as well. It's possible to completely furnish a round/oval house without any custom made items pretty easily.

Having said that, the Japanese have square melons for refrigerators:

-- Those certainly deserve a picture more than the poor sofa!

If we can get square melons, maybe rounded houses are not so farfetched? It's something to think about.
