Dear Developers,
Current expansion mechanic has one major weakness - the prior to 3.3 existing expansion tax has vanished.
Effect of the missing expansion tax is that now expansions are triggered/spammed in an uncontrollable way. Once a system reaches >75% influence and an expansion is triggered it will stay at high influence rates despite a successful expansion.
Negative effects
Justification of an expansion tax from a game lore perspective.
In order to trigger an expansion investments need to be taken which are fueled by CMDRs actions flying missions, donating, delivering data, bounties etc. An expansion to a new star system must be expensive hence a tax like in the old system makes/made sense.
Current system seems to be unbalanced hence please consider a mechanic allowing better control of expansions.
Thank you

Negative effects
- expansions are spammed instead of triggered in a controlled way
- unwanted expansions happening
- free factions slots in systems with <7 factions closed quicker
