Nice !
I can't wait for the game to be able to render things that well.
Does anyone know where to get these kinds of pictures before they "enhance" them ?

Wow, nice pics! Haven't seen any other nebulas with such intricate structures as in #2. I guess I'll have to go and have a look myself

Mm, but don't forget that such photographs are made with very long exposures. I believe they'd look different to the naked eye, if you could get there.
Edit: heh, and I just missed drkaii's post.
Anyway, to the OP: nice screenshots! I especially like the GIFs.

Most excellent. Thought of going myself. How many LY is it ?

A distance that, round this forum, essentially equates to zero ;)

1500ly from Sol will stick you in the middle of Barnard's Loop, the view of it just keeps getting better the whole way there though and there's a long line of pretty sites from the Pleiades out. Well worth the trip.

@OP - nice pics, love the 2nd one.

ED will never be that good. That photo was exposed for 212 hours and processed for a year

Yes but the advantage of a video game is that you don't need to expose the lens for anyamount of time. You just calculate particles and shaders so it's very different to look similar.
I don't think it'll look that good in this Elite but it'll certainly get better.

By the way. I love your videos ^^

Thanks. I liked it because it looks like a valley. exept its red and cloudy.
I recently popped out the bottom of Orion, from behind, and it looked like I was coming out of a red cloudy tube. It was amazing. With the vive it'll nuts.
