Horizons Base assault!

I didn't say it wasn't fair or that I'm locked out. I'm saying it appears intended for solo play. It's not the nature of base assault missions or how they should be, but the nature of how missions work in general that makes me say that. You can't share them with wing-mates. They can only join as volunteers. There's no incentive to help someone go do that.

Case in point, this thread literally was me asking for help to complete a +++ and not a single person offered up their wing or a video on how to solo the mission. You guys were too busy measuring your peens.

/thread

sorry, after a few pages I still can't understand what is your point. if it is too difficult them FD is locking down content for solo players. it can't be removed from the BB, as this will be also locking down content for solo players. you seem not to be able to complete it because it is hard, really hard, working as intended, considering easy bases are easy. Doing in a wing doesn't share profit, however all the members in the wing can pick up the same mission before going to the surface post, and completing it will get success results for the whole wing.

what is wrong?

As it SHOULD be... a challenge ? YES please , but certainly not undoable solo like Chris said in his reply..."Bigger ones? Yeah, you're gonna need help. No way around it."

It's not un-doable. Just incredibly difficult.

Second, I think Solo players need to understand that there are going to be things that simply will be incredibly difficult to do solo, as they are meant for multiple people. Those that play solo need to deal with it.

FD can't make content entirely for Solo folk, plenty of players enjoy playing with others - missions requiring teamwork has been one of the most sought after requests I can think of.

I'm not sure of your particular reason for playing solo - it may be network or hardware limitations, but if it's not, perhaps find some other solo players that you can team up with in your own private group?

Otherwise, if you are that hell bent on only ever playing solo, and refusing to see another living soul, then accept that you may also have to deal with some content requiring a lot of time, and lots of skill to deal with - levels that are beyond most players in the game.

Z...

It wasn't a easy base, stop moaning and learn with the tips people are giving you

Oh that wasn't an easy base? LOL

The video clearly shows an easy base. On the harder bases, you will have several sets of AA turrets and elite anacondas firing on you the moment you blow the first generator. Yes I said first generator. The real bases have 7-8 generators, 5 of which control sets of 2-3 AA turrets. I ask for advice or an actual wing, and you come here to buff your e-peen. Get lost. This isn't the place for pilots who have no clue what they're talking about to try and act cool.

Any video?
You do realize that you only have to take out one specific generator?
elite anacondas firing on you the moment you blow the first generator.
yawn....

By preventing Solo Players to be able to complete certain missions is EXACTLY what i said.... LOCKING them out of content , so effectivly diminshing the SOLO part.
All missions the game is offering should be completable, regardless of Mode otherwise they can switch off Solo altogether.

I took on a mission to scan a data point in a medium installation. No chance it is rock solid unless I am doing something wrong

Now don't get me wrong I have no problem some missions being aimed at wings.... HOWEVER this game is meant to be playable solo and locking out content this way is not good imo.

Bottom line we need npc Wing mates both for ships and devs

Edit that said some fab advice in this thread. Thanks

No this is the incorrect mission. This is destroy the generator on an easy base that isn't even a single +. I've done thousands of these and stacking them was my preferred way to rank up Fed.

The base assault we're talking about require you to scan a data point, or multiple, in a base surrounded by 4 sets of 3 AA turrets, 2-3 AA turrets on the base itself, 20 small turrets, 20 skimmers, 2 Goliaths and several elite security ships on constant patrol. These are +++ installations.

Some bases ought to be too big to take on yourself, that is not being locked out content that is a simulated universe. If there is a massive fleet of capital ships is it content that locks you out because you can not destroy them all, all by yourself? What nonsense!
Medium installation rocksolid? rocksolid weaksauce even in a scarab

I am pretty high ranked myself, i'll record next time I do one. personally I think the base should start it's aa defence as soon as you breach it's airspace or after one warning and the exclusion zone should be bigger.

no....ilo I know what he means. When I got PacMan on the Atari it seemed very unfair to me that I could not go to the next level after my three yellow balls with mouth were touched by one of the four ghosts. Why lock content away from me!?!?! Strangely enough back in the day they laughed at my idea to replace the normal dots with power pills and just leave four normal dots in the maze but I think times have caught up with "good" game design. Finally we can have a 'balanced' Pacman!

yes.. they locked the corvette behind a grind wall of ranks and credits too.. I'm a casual player with kids, playing 1h a week I will never have it, despite I PAID FOR THE GAME.

This camera shots in the vid: HOW?

you mean, same difficulty to kill a harmless sidewinder than a capital ship?

You totally missed my point! .Of ourse some missions should be too tough to do on your own.

This is why we need NPC wing mates. The AI get to have them so why not a Cmdr ? I know some people like to play in a human wing and that is fine but that does not mean you should chastise those who don't who would like npcs to do the same job.

And Henri / Ilo enough of the sarcasm no need to be a prat just because you do not want solo players having access to the larger missions though not sure why npc players scare you so much. Reading both of your posts your attitude stinks with your sarcasm . And where did I say I as a casual player and wanted access to the stuff easily. Personally I preferred the pay etc in the launch game!.

Frankly if I responded how your posts warrant I would end up with an infraction

I managed to pull a few of those missions off, but it depends on luck and base layout. Not something you know before you take a mission.

Fine that there are outposts that need teamwork to crack, but until the mission system is wing compatible and/or you can hire NPC wing m8's, they should not be used in the mission generation proces.

I a mission system made for solo you shouldn't be able to get missions that might be impossible to complete by yourself.

Now 1 could argue you don't have to take those missions... what the problem? But I haven't seen any medium or small base missions offered to me. I assum this is becouce of my rank and standing.

Generally, I circle the base before I land and deploy srv, so as to find the best route exposing me to the least amount of ground turrets at once. I'll usually come at a base from a corner, land the ship somewhere around 1.2km from the perimeter so I can dash back to it and take on any ships that spawn when I initiate an attack w/o having the AA's pound me before I raise my gear and deploy weapons.

This has worked out for me most of the time. I've had to go restock an SRV twice, and have been grinding assault missions for creds/rank/rep for the past 12hrs. The assault missions on sm/med hisec and large medsec/hisec really did seem impossible at first, but they are alright. I struggle with large hisec bases, but I expect them to be hard and they don't surprise me. I can generally tell when I'm getting in over my head and pull out pretty quick.

As for the BH's chasing me afterward. Good luck to them catching me in my ship line-up; FDL, DBS, and Cob III.

Yes, but how do you control the ship / buggy when using that camera? I can barely make it work. Is there some secret controls I know nothing about?

I assume it was another person flying the Conda. You cant fight with your ship whilst in the debug camera, and this is by design. there is a monster thread you can search for if you want the reasons - both for and against - as to why

Posted in response to "We're not talking about the easy bases."

Unclear what this video proves. 43 seconds into the video this happens:
1. "Warning Bounty Gained: Assault of Generator"
2. Laser fire from the ground, hull status is mostly covered by the moving letter "r" in "Gal Mercs" (added to video).
3. "Shields Offline". Hull status only 83% clearly visible for 1-2 frames before the author cuts to a view of the ship some distance from station.

Make of it what you will, I suspect the ship did not survive the port's counter-strike.
