Base gamers and Mac users, how do you cope in Open?

So I was flying a basically stock, A-rated FDS in an Anarchy system looking to collect some materials when I was set upon by an Uber-Engineered ASP. My ship had some left over Engineered PowerPlay weapons. Now, it's true that non-Horizons/Engineers players can escape like everyone else (and I'm not including seal clubbing, which is a separate issue) by using all the legal methods, but if you want to fight then your options are limited.

So, open up some limited Engineering to base gamers, or make Horizons the "new" base game when 3.0 drops, or ...?

I would assume they don't fight other players. I play in open, I have very few engineered modules, but avoid other players who want to fight. No difference to someone flying a heavily engineered cobra vs a heavily engineered FDL in open.

Since most players aren't interested in PvP I guess they don't care.

PS
Maybe you should start a thread in the PvP forum and ask how many people don't own Horizons.

Even if you don't want PvP, PvP wants you, and without engineering your escape options get real thin real fast.

Guess the post was just an excuse for the video mostly? in any event, a great video. Viewed, liked, subscribed. The fight was entertaining well enough on it's own (wonder how much difference some more PIP in your SYS would have made, to the remaining hull I mean), but the location crowned it. Have to love fights at unorthodox locations, and Sag A* is very special indeed. Was this thing set up, I presume so by the description (gathering for mats at Sag A*... Hehe)? Or just a random encounter? Also of interest would have been to know the general builds of the ships (a peek at opponent internals). But great stuff!!

Also cheers for taking that brick all the way to the center.

It's not Sag A...just a stupid name for a ship
