Hardware & Technical Be aware, very aware, of the M$ Autumn Update

I'm not sure I want to know why, or which OSs. Perhaps it's Windows all the way down...

Oh you can nest them like nobody's business :D

A few years back for the lulz:

W10 Hyper-V Win7, running XP mode running VirtualPC2007, running Win98, running an Amiga emulator, running a ZX Spectrum emulator :D

Completely and utterly pointless - and required hours of tweaking in order to over-ride the built-in safeties - but it was amusing :D

Well, all i can say is 1709 Sucks so much i rolled back this morning to 1703, and my FPS drops and game frame stuttering has COMPLETELY disappeared TOTALLY!!

Now i just gotta learn how to keep 1709 from ever seeing the light of day on my gaming rig forever, or at least until M$ sort their Biowaste out. It also updated Nvidia drivers to 388.13, which is a pile of dogs Biowaste as well and this was rolled back by me as well!

Damn you Microsoft Just Damn you!

I wonder if that's why games need "Direct X"? (I have very little idea what it is, or why it's favoured over OGL. Just speculating here. You can tell that I have all the technical skill of a concussed mongoose.)
DirectX is a set of libraries to access hardware like graphics card, sound card and game controllers.

OpenGL does similar job to what Direct3D does, but it was historically lagging behind (and also support on Windows not that great), so DirectX achieved wider adoption.
Games not written for Windows because someone prefers DirectX over OpenGL - they are written for Windows because its still a dominant platform (however this started to change, esp. with Steam support for Linux).
