Beagle Point Expedition (BPE)

Signed up for my Asp Explorer.. However, I see this is a 5K ly/ week progression.. Not sure if I have the game time for that.. only play about 30-45 min a day before work .. thoughts?

You should be fine with that. 5 ly/week is about 150 jumps for an unengineered exploration Asp, or about 100 jumps for an engineered one (without figuring neutron star boosting). 30-45 minutes a day 5 days a week will let you do that quite handily, leaving you the weekends for the meetups and general exploration.

CMDR wielkimagik here, I finally got around to proper sign up. Applied for FleetComm access (ingame yesterday, via form today), joined Discord. Also registered on EDSM and joined the expedition there. I'll update my info in google sheet when I'm there, and then set the ship ID in game. Currently parked in Jaques.

Speaking of EDSM: if I don't want to install any third party apps I should just upload journal files, right? (Also, why does it show my DBX in flight log as a Sidewinder...)

No problem, that is why I have processed a neutron star route.

Using them will make the travel easier and faster, but don t forget your afm.

It is on a separate tab on the master document.

The journal importer handle all our API so no trouble.
As for the sidewinder try to resend the journal in question, if if doesn't fix the trouble send me the journal file and the date of the wrong log and I will check if I see anything.

I will be using eddiscovery to update my progress on the pc, but to answer your question.

On the BPE discord there is a room for manual update requests that the console members of the expedition to use.

You can use that as well so you don't have to install any third party programme as discord can be run through a web browser.

Cmdr Resender here, I have registered for the expedition on EDSM

I am a disabled Vet with too much time on my hands so I play Elite a lot. I see there is a 5K ly per week progression which I can easily do in a day, if not more, so are we limited to this 5K per week or can we go as far as we want? I don't want to be doing this all the way to September and am looking to complete the run in less than a month, is this OK? Also what is my EDSM number so that I can update my progress via Discord?

Ok. Maybe I'll look into eddiscovery on weekend... if I manage to defeat the lazy in me.

If you're playing on a PC, I highly recommend using ED Discovery.
I can understand some apprehension toward third party programs, but EDD is tried and tested by thousands of pilots and it really does improve the game.

It creates a map of your travels of course, but it also logs everything else in a searchable database.
For example you can also search for and list out every ELW you've ever scanned without ever having to write anything down manually.
It has a voice feature that will read out information verbally that the game doesn't display. It may be a bit too verbal though IMO
It recently added voice control feature that lets you speak voice commands to deploy landing gear, open galaxy map, etc...

Registered on EDSM, always wanted to head out to Beagle Point, why not do it as part of an expedition.

Also, just filled out the google doc as well.

No you are not limited to the waypoints, and once the expedition starts you can go as fast or as slow as you want, the waypoints and there dates are to monitor your progress and to meet up with the other cmdrs on the expedition.
The 5,000 ly is also to help the slower ships keep up with the fleet.

With regards to edsm, if you sign up to edsm, you will find the BPE expedition listed. Join the expedition and then it will assign you your number.

You then look under participants on edsm or wait for me to copy the information over the the master document.

Welcome, join us on the BPE discord.

And completely open source so, if your apprehension is in that direction, you can double check exactly what we're doing if you're that way inclined (github link in my sig).

Resending didn't help. I'll PM you with link to the log and what I gathered so far.

and you have to trust someone in this dark world.. eventually :D

Captains Log is the app I use - very similar to EDD - it has an overlay that can go at the top of the screen to give info on the current system and the last scanned body. It also interfaces with EDSM so it will update your log in EDSM automagically. Also, the ED Market Connector app has a plugin that shows distances from the primary star for terraformable, water, and ammonia worlds, again as a small overlay, so you can make a bit of cash on the way.
