Beagle Point is far. Really far.

yea.

Beagle Point.

I proudly display the decal 'Distant World 3302' on all my ships now, because earning it was the toughest thing I ever did! It was a true mental challenge :)

Hang in there! The feeling when you touch down at the end of the journey is worth it!

...and then you realize you have to get back again... lol :D

Crossing the gap between arms just before you get to Beagle Point is real exploring. No route plotting, and if you don't follow a well-trodden route it really feels like you're venturing into the unknown. Takes a bit longer, but it's worth it. Good luck, and enjoy the experience!

I tried finding my own way between arms in my way back from BP. I got lost for 3 weeks! If my ship had another lightyear worth of jump range I would have made it across with no problems. I didn't have Horizons at the time, so I couldn't do any boosts. I ended up just going back the way I had come. *SHRUG* Next time though, I plan on making my own way!

Totally agree Draxxen! I was the most trying thing I have done in the game. I was SO ready to get back to the bubble! I have to say though, when I got back I realized that being in the Black where where I liked to be.

When I get back to the bubble I am rebuilding my Anaconda or I might go for a Type 9 for the view and head to Beagle point. I have a bad jump range 16 ly. Then I heading to Beagle Point. It going to take me a month or a year to get there.

I think diving in those sparse areas is one of the most fulfilling things an explorer can do. Right now I am in the southern edge of the galaxy trying to reach "the last star" around the edge and using jumponium in every jump and with the tank almos empty is a blast. The black sky from the SRV while trying to find more materials can make you feel uneasy, but I love it.

Seriously? Just point your ship in the right direction and jump.

Also... one other thing I intend to record. My final stop on this run is Ishums. One thing I am going to try to do, as was hinted in my response to marx, was try to see how fast a person could go from Point A (usually the bubble) to Point B, and to actively ask around for those 'point B' locations to experiment with. Well, Point B literally doesn't get farther than Ishums. So, if speed is important, then planning becomes important. Maybe it's different with an engineered long-range Anaconda; I don't know yet, but I will certainly find out. But... history has shown me that the best way to keep problems from happening on a run is to solve them before they become problems. And that includes routing problems.

Good to know that there are non-procedural stars farther down South: I checked for some, but I completely forgot about the catalogue stars. Although I guess that if they're unreachable, then 3 Geminorum's description there should be edited to include the reachable part. I'll put in a request for correction - gonna need one for the NGC 1893 cluster too anyway.
As for the difficulty visiting it would add to any route: it's something of a detour, and more importantly, it's some distance above the plane in a sparse region, so FSD boosts are required to reach it. Although a 60 ly jump range might be able to make it without those, but a "no mods, no neutrons" Anaconda will need the jump spells.

Hm, point A to point B? If you did a Colonia-Southern Meridian route, that should be similar in length to a Sol-Sagittarius A* run, although slightly longer. Plus you don't really need to take a detour to Daedalus Crossing then (the route to cross over into the Outer Arm Vacuus near NGC 1893), as you'll be coming from that direction anyway.

Have just come across consecutive stars in the Abyss where the star and first 3 bodies have all been scanned by different Cmdrs and the rest left untagged...have duly tagged the next planet in each. Explorers, eh. Best bunch in the game.

Me and CMDR Quar Damek just landed at Beagle Point..

Man, its great to be back here, just seeing that familiar landscape brings a lot of memories from DWE..
Time to dismiss our ships and get drunk. :D

Sounds interesting; thanks. Something to look at on the way back from Beagle. Never been to Colonia, so making a stop on the way back from Beagle works.

Well, I made it.

Here is a little video where Henkka77 and I are goofing around with SRVs and fighters. Henkka77 also brought a souvenir from the very first alien ruins.

Doing 560Kly in a 28ly exploration Anaconda over 8 months then moving to a 62ly Fuel Rat Anaconda made the galaxy feel really really small. I think the next exploration trip I do will be in the Fed Corvette or Gunship or maybe even the Keelback. Not entirely sure yet but 50Ly+ kinda feels like cheating :p

Good luck and take pictures, just be careful where you store them, mine came to 15gb of screenshots by the end and I didn't realise! :D

Is that a set Fuel Rat build with suggested modules and engineering mods? If so it there a resource for this? (I'll check their site). I have a 54.82 (57.15) jump range conda that I made for Distant Stars, but having no other need for a Conda (I prefer the AspX for exploration) I was going to take off the engineered mods and sell the rest. However I keep thinking I may be best keeping a really long range conda for if I need to go a long way in a hurry (as opposed to exploring) at some point in the future.

Congratz on reaching the Beagle point. I got there as well 3 days ago and I haven't opened the game since. I got burned out from all the jumping
