Beam laser - Fixed or Gimbal for Python

2x C3 G Cannon (outer)
2x C2 G Beam
1x C3 G Beam (center)
7A Power Plant, 2 or 3 pips to weapons depending on situation. Found I wasn't getting enough hits on target with fixed, not to say others can't...

How you like to play and fitting your play style is the most important. Choose what is best for you. That said, I have two turreted size 3 beam lasers on top and a single gimbaled size 2 multi cannon on the bottom. Because I'm currently mining, the other two top slots are filled with size 2 mining lasers. While mining with my python, I can get attacked by 1 or 2 small AI ships and don't even need to move out of drone range. I just spin or tilt and let the lasers do their thing. If attacked by something with a bit more bite, manuvering is a must to avoid too much pressure on the shields, but usually find the lasers have reduced their shield to nothing. Then I line the multi cannon up and finish them off.

I'd go gimbal, Python turning is not that responsive... and you can always unlock the target and use as fixed if they pop chaff.

My favourite set-up is 2 medium Gimbal Beams (3/4 pips can fire continuously with an A distributor) and 3 large plasma accelerators (packs a decent punch) I only have a B power but it can power all fine. I can also use A6 cell banks and power manage them to disable 2 of the plasmas if I need to fire them.

Python is so versatile.
