Been gone a while... what happened to the store? It had such a functional, clean interface!

The removal of the simple browser based store was a mistake in my opinion. It was easy to see what was new and look for things of interest.

The new in game store is a UI and UX train crash that favours trying to look cool over user accessibility. I have purchased nothing since it went live as it's not where I am used to going and cannot easily see what is new at a glance.

There are rumours of a return to having a browser based store, but nothing has appeared as yet. I also fear they will try to copy in dreadful in game experience. If so I guess there will be no further purchases for me. As a designer in the real world I detest poor UI. If I can't find the information or transactions I need without having t click around and think then I simply don't use it.

This is an example of someone trying to fix something that was not broken and just making a mess covered in glitter.
lol

Similar to the original post I have returned a couple days ago after several months and also found the web store functionally useless for browsing ED game items. I understand the concept of the ARX, no problem there. It is the awful ability to browse through the store items. I just figured the store was broken and ignored it. But some of the above forum responses suggest it isn't broken. Is the web store maybe browser specific? I am using IE 11.

It's about 50/50 on the things I checked. "Best price" is buying the largest package of ARX, "worst price" is buying the smallest. Free ARX is not accounted for.

thanks! I it does look like a 50/50 split not taking into account the popularity of the item...not a huge difference either way I guess it’s just the extra annoyance of not being able to just buy the thing you want.

What issues are you having with it specifically? Also, why are you using IE?

Returning players aren't allowed to voice an opinion without getting ridiculed on old issues that they're just encountering....because they've just returned and the issue is new to them?

Of course they can, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Mine is that when people pretend to return to post some righteous outrage, but get it wrong because they haven't fact checked anything its really funny but also sort of sad.

I use ie because its there, you can do nothing about it, and privacy. Log into the privacy abusing services you somehow got involved with and don't want to get rid of, and use your real browser for actually browsing.

Only thing I would say to that spreadsheet is that the majority of items on sale in terms of paints falls into the 'patterned' PJ category, which has seen an increase. The image also doesn't include top drawer (3,250 Arx) price paints for small ships (like those awful Overdrive ones for the Cobra).

Fwiw, I haven't bought a single item with real cash since Arx went live, but I have unlocked a few paints with earned Arx - namely those 380/620 lowest tier ones, which happen to be of only three previous packs - Military, Vibrant and Tactical. Luckily I already bought the more advanced (and now more expensive) packs I wanted for most ships I tend to fly, so I'm fine with that (and unlike others I do switch around paints within a given pack quite a bit as I like variety).

In a nutshell then I can say that Arx works for me personally, and my biggest issue isn't with the pricing per se, it's with the fact you have to prepurchase Arx (I'm not in the lending business tyvm) and that they increased the bulk of items I would've bought (those patterned paints that used to come in packs) while not offering those six-packs (at a discount/original price translated to Arx) anymore.

That the vast majority of new paintjobs are not to my taste also doesn't help getting me to open my wallet to buy an Arx pack. Christmas sale might be the first and only time for the rest of this year that I'm willing to spend money again on Elite, provided the whole thing (game and webstore alike) doesn't completely fall apart beforehand.

Another ARX thread yeaaahh so I can complain about something that I forgot last time:

It took me something like 3 years to convince me to buy something on the Frontier Store, and it was real money!
Imho ARX is just another wall to overcome for people that are not really into it.
I can imagine how a returning player could feel about this. People that were here during the transition process have a much better understanding.

Story of my (Elite) life... it took me years to soften up on cosmetic microtransactions (I normally despise them with a vengeance and tend to ignore them completely) and now that I've entered 'whale' territory, FDev throws a spanner in the works by adding a fake currency:D It's a social experiment really isn't it

The initial store screen works ok, but when I select Game Extras -> Elite Dangerous presentation of items in the store is awful. The first couple items (without clicking on them) are bigger than my computer screen with no info except ARX price. The rest are big and greyed out so can't really see the item without clicking on it. Browsing through items like ship colors to see what you might like is not practical. Perhaps the store was designed very browser specific.

When traveling I use a company supplied laptop that has IE. Irrelevant though. Basic websites should work on IE. Regardless what people think is best It is among the standard browsers in use. A computer software company should be capable of ensuring their website works really well regardless of who they subcontracted its development to. Especially if they are hoping to make money from it.

Easy solution. Close store -> don't return.

Ie is FAR from the best. Its not working because you are using IE. The elite dangerous web store is not a basic website btw
