thanks! I it doesn’t look like a 50/50 split not taking into account the popularity of the item...not a huge difference either way I guess it’s just the extra annoyance of not being able to just buy the thing you want.
Only thing I would say to that spreadsheet is that the majority of items on sale in terms of paints falls into the 'patterned' PJ category, which has seen an increase. The image also doesn't include top drawer (3,250 Arx) price paints for small ships (like those awful Overdrive ones for the Cobra).
Fwiw, I haven't bought a single item with real cash since Arx went live, but I have unlocked a few paints with earned Arx - namely those 380/620 lowest tier ones, which happen to be of only three previous packs - Military, Vibrant and Tactical. Luckily I already bought the more advanced (and now more expensive) packs I wanted for most ships I tend to fly, so I'm fine with that (and unlike others I do switch around paints within a given pack quite a bit as I like variety).
In a nutshell then I can say that Arx works for me personally, and my biggest issue isn't with the pricing per se, it's with the fact you have to prepurchase Arx (I'm not in the lending business tyvm) and that they increased the bulk of items I would've bought (those
patterned paints that used to come in packs) while not offering those six-packs (at a discount/original price translated to Arx) anymore.
That the vast majority of new paintjobs are not to my taste also doesn't help getting me to open my wallet to buy an Arx pack. Christmas sale might be the first and only time for the rest of this year that I'm willing to spend money again on Elite, provided the whole thing (game and webstore alike) doesn't completely fall apart beforehand.
