So many mats, so many mods, so many ships, so many modules, so many ship builds & roles, not enough inventory. Need storage/warehouse to store mats INCLUDING mats that are categorized as commodity, especially those commodity mats that only come from missions. Seriously, am i expected to haul all those commodity mats everywhere i go like a hermit crab? I've been selling all those mats as i need cargo space for my missions plus don't want to be a vulnerable walking bank, it really breaks my heart, you have no idea but i am forced to. I can't use those mats because i'm lacking other mats, don't have the ship/module to mod it with or insufficient rank with engineer. Moreover having to travel half the galaxy to use those mats every single time you get them is madness. Btw, i ran out of space for my mats by the 3rd day.

Just a simple vault will do, it doesn't have to be universal/shared across stations. I don't mind going back to the same home base to store mats every time. So long as the vault can store mats and commodity mats. If the vault also allows storing of modules, that would be awesome and greatly appreciated! Players can mod several modules and store them so they can respec their ship builds into different roles, encourage choice while providing convenience.

Actually, I would love (particularly for those who have billions of credits...) purchasable Storage ships/facilities - perhaps a very large, slow storage ship you could call in to your system to dock with? Like a capital ship, it would merely leave if it had its heat sinks damage. It might be a 'rented' ship with an upkeep or some such... But I'm sure FD have their own designs, but yes, would appreciate storage, if only because it added a convenience and another goal to the game!

there already is storage implemented in the game.

you can buy extra ships, put modules on them, and store them in your hangar. That's what I've been doing since 1.3, with the introduction of powerplay weapons.

I'm asking storage for mats and commodity mats. Thats the main and biggest concern.

If the the ships can be stored while carrying mats and commodities then i'll happily abuse that loophole but unfortunately thats not the case.

If FD can provide storage for modules, that'll be a big favour to all the players. I've been storing modded modules on smaller ships but when it comes to bigger ships, i'm a beggar, can't afford 10x Imperial corvettes that cost $200million each just to store 10x 7A FSD costing just $50million each. Thats a very, very, very, very, very expensive 'bank/vault'.

Commodities maybe but you sure do NOT need material or data storage when it cant be stolen or lost if you die. If they add storage for data/materials they need to make them able to pirate or lost on ship destruction

Also they need to limit the amount the storage can hold, make it accessible only in the station it is stored in and charge credits by week/month for its use and charge for every station you have stuff stored at

I think what OP is referring to, is a "Bank" or similar. This would definitely be of benefit, having already filled my Data section in a week of scanning various objects. It seems silly to have to throw away data, when we may need it in the future...

I'd also like the ability to transfer cargo to materials, since some blueprints require mined cargo that would be lost on ship destruction or similar.

NO WAY!!! That would be abused by people putting cargo there to keep it from being stolen or destroyed on destruction. It is bad enough that materials get saved on destruction and not able to be stolen but then if they add storage then maybe that will change

It seems as though FD are allowing us to "sample" engineers, without doing it properly. Doing it properly requires a storage facility, as otherwise you fill up with materials very quickly.

Imho, engineers will only be implemented fully when storage facilities are properly in the game, as they are really a requirement for engineers. Otherwise how can you do what you want, when you want, as per FD's mantra, when your hold is bunged up with materials?

They already give you storage for 600 materials on your ship that cant be lost unless you dump them. just remove the commodities required for mods and we wont need commodity storage at all

Yes, removing commodities for blueprints would be a better way of doing this, or alternatively, change the materials that are mined into materials rather than commodities.

Dear David,

I was I who put this question to you (about storage) on the formal forum to ask you questions on the live Google Chat.

AND on the live chat you acknowledged my question and said you were thinking about it (storage) and it would be implemented some time.

Could you kindly give us an idea when please? I cant do Engineers until i get storage.

Many Thanks

Drake

No that would not work as there are commodities that are high priced that are used in mods. If it made those into materials you would lose the ability to profit from them.

That's a workaround and not an implementation...
