Newcomer / Intro Beginners Questions,

Beginners Questions,

I am struggling to figure out the camera, the control set up! It eludes me so far, with a mind of its own. With me going along for an erratic ride. Then crashing through the surface, and loosing shot!
Also, taking a screen shot? Currently I am using print screen. Then exiting Ed to save the shot. Is there a way to take multiple shots ? If so how, and where are they filed?
Where is and what is the key binding called? For this to happen?

Camera suite: has its own set of bindings, you'll need to define anything you want to use. A lot of people who do extensive camera work use a dedicated controller just for the camera.
Screen shots: the one key in ED that can't be reassigned. F10 for regular screenshots, Alt-F10 for high res screenshots. The latter is not possible in Open. The shots end up in a subfolder of your Windows accounts default pictures folder; some tools like EDDiscovery can then automatically convert them to jpeg, store at a directory of your choice and delete the original. If the hotkeys collide with anything else (GeForce Experience is a prime candidate), you'll need to remap those.

You might also want to investigate installing either EDMC and it's screenshot plugin or EDDiscovery.
They will both rename the images and convert them to PNG or JPG automatically.

New Question !
As I am venturing further away, my Galactic planet sphere in map plot mode is now only giving me two jumps worth of stars! ( Total 60Ly’s )
The star density is still plentiful. Yet I only get two jumps to the edge of the sphere. At the start of my journey I was getting six too eight jumps ( 30+Ly ) 180 to 200 Ly’s worth of jumps ! In one plot..
My ship is at 100%, is there a setting in the map mode I have inadvertently altered to reduce my plot map size?

Check your map filters, This happens to me all the time becuase i set a filter looking for something and forget i made that adjustment, then when i want to plot a route further away i pause a moment because no stars are showing up. "oh right, i set a filter to look for only high tech worlds" etc.
Basically try to clear any settings in map mode.
Also could try having the map search for a system name and see if you can plot route. Should be able to plot up to 1000ly out regardless of fuel usage, unless the system in question is simply outside your ships jump range.

Map zoom?

Just to be clear, as well as the in-map zoom control: There was a setting we were able to change to vary the size of the sphere of stars displayed in the galaxy map. I believe that ability was removed, at least I cannot find it any more, maybe someone can clarify(*). So it is possible that this is what has been inadvertently changed to cause the issue @Nort mentions in post #6.

gal map star ball.jpg

(*Maybe the entry "<StarInstanceCount>4000</StarInstanceCount>" in the GraphicsConfiguration.xml?)

So did you get this sorted and how?

No,
I have been through all the settings in the Map filters, and still only get two jumps worth of stars. It seems to be shrinking as I get further out !
I am heading deep into the Southern territory, yet am still in the main outer spiral with plenty of Stars around.
It is slowing my progress, as I have to keep resetting my next rout every second jump.

My ship is all at 100%, and all necessary modules are on.
It may be just me but the jump time between stars is also taking longer to play through! Is this normal as you get close to the outer edge.

Wait a min, are you not moving the map view? such as moving away from your current position to see more points further then 60LY? Not talking about zooming, but changing the plane the (bubble) is looking at. X,Y, and Z cords.

I...........

Screen-shot would help us to understand what you are talking about.

When you move left/right or up and down does the bubble of stars not move with you, exposing new stars?
Could just be how i see my galaxy map but normally i see a blue ring that indicates the center of my view, when i target a system the blue ring moves to that location. Its the center of view that has the 60ly limit. Moving that central point exposes more stars further away from where i am located.

Here is a picture i found that is a great example of that blue ring.

Edit: This might be what is missing.
I think that last tab on the galaxy has the ability to 'show grid'. Selecting that should get your cursor back.

I don't think this is a settings issue. Nort should just need to move the area the map is centered on, as wetwire mentions.
