Modes Believe it or not...

Theres very little difference between open and solo. Everyone complaining about open only modes, like, open is essentially solo. Been playing in open and solo for 2+ years now and theres virtually no difference.

The arguments I hear:

"My internet cant handle open mode"

Quit acting like open mode is crowded and full of action. Its not. And never has been. In 2+ years Ive encountered other cmdrs maybe 3 times?

"But, but griefers!"

In 2+ years Ive played, Ive encountered ONE griefer. They are actually quite rare.

"Fdev cant just change their game all of a sudden!"

Actually yes they can. Nowhere in the TOS does it state they cant. In fact, quite the opposite.

"Open mode is only for combat!"

Last time I checked, open mode had everything solo mode has; exploration, trading, combat, bussing, etc. Again, evem if you actively seek out pvp opponents, theyre still damn hard to find.

"Ive spent just as much money on this game as anyone else!"

Have you now? Because purchasing the game is a given for anyone. That doesnt entitle you to anything. In fact even in my case, where Ive spent hundreds on this game, Im still not entitled to anything.

"This is wrong and it isnt fair!"

Life aint always fair. Get over it.

Life is the worse game I've ever played.
No saves, every feature is P2W...
It costs a fortune. ...and I'm not even having a good time.

I play solo to play my version of a hardcore mode in a way that makes sense in the game. Throwing ships away and respawning in Open just because you can doesn't hold much interest for me.

You must either have crap internet or dont do CG's, Engineers, or Jameson

All systems that have actual content have other players in them. Anytime I go to Jameson in open the instance is usually maxed out with players. Heck I'm on my way to Colonia right now (only 3300LY out) and I just saluted a CMDR crossing paths about 30 minutes ago.

I can vouch for Open not being that different from Solo. I've played in Open since the Premium Beta and maybe once have come across what I could consider a "ganker" and even he was easily avoided. The majority of contact with other players is a simple, "o7" or what have you. I've even made a few impromptu friends and done some cooperative stuff. I am a bit more situationally aware than I otherwise would be, but that's it.

After 3 years of having this as a consistent experience my determination is that the people here that seem to believe that Open is a PVP hellhole haven't actually spent much time in Open or have let one bad experience make them believe that it's the norm.

It's not.

No i dont because engineering isnt needed and cgs are a waist of time. And even then, ive done them both before and theres not like all these gankers flying around destroying everything. Theres maybe 1 or 2 once in a blue moon that are easily avoided.

Also concerning regular cmdrs, no there actually isnt that many. Most cgs theres a handful of them minding their own business. Unless your playing out of a 3rd world country on dial up, virtually any other isp can handle a few other players. I mean this is like pre 1995 server connection we are talking.

Every CG I've taken part in the past 2 months has been full with multiple instances of maxed out CMDR's Go into a Has Res or CZ and you honestly cant swing a Vette without hitting another CMDR.

A lot of the gankers hang out at Jameson and the burning stations lately. Havent seen them at CG's for a while though.

Cgs are 1% of the game

So are you willing to pay my PS+ subscription costs to Sony if a game I bought for the single player element suddenly becomes multiplayer only?

No?

Me neither, the game just isn't good enough to justify the extra outlay.
