Benefits of being allied to superpowers (Federation/Empire/Alliance)?

Some time ago, being allied to a superpower meant that you were automatically allied with any minor factions who followed the superpower, which was awesome. However, this was changed (which in my opinion is a shame and sort of unrealistic) and being allied with a superpower no longer means that you are automatically allied with minor factions under the superpower's control.

So what benefits are there if you are allied with a superpower currently? To clarify, I'm referring to reputation with a superpower, not rank. I couldn't find any new threads on this, all of them were about minor factions. Thanks for your time. [smile]

I believe that the better your reputation with a superpower then the quicker it is to earn rep with a minor faction that is aligned to it.

Agreed. Missions done for Superpower-aligned factions count for more "reputation points", the friendlier you are with that power.

If the number of minor faction reputation points obtained by an action or mission is 1x for being Neutral with the Superpower (i.e. the same amount of points you would get if the faction were Unaligned), than that same mission counts for 1.25x points if Cordial, 1.5x points if Friendly, and 2.0x if Allied.

So if you want to quickly become Allied with a Fed-aligned minor faction (or a whole bunch of them that are in the same system), then become Allied with their Superpower first. That way, it will be only half as much work to become Allied with the minor factions.

The quickest way to become Allied with a Superpower is by handing in generic Superpower bounties, collected by KWSing and then destroying NPC pirates. An hour's bounty-hunting should get even a non-combat-oriented player enough generic bounties to get you to Allied with your chosen Superpower.

So, while being Allied with a Superpower no longer creates for you instant friends all over the galaxy, it does allow you to make friends much easier.

I would like to see the Superpowers be more visibly effective, particularly in the BGS. What's the point of a minor faction being part of the Federation/Empire/Alliance if they don't help you in your conflicts with your neighbours?

Less shouty traffic controllers at stations, ability to access the big ships (when FD aren't having a cashflow seizure), and when you make Admiral and King, the relief is palpable. In never having to bother about it again.

Apart from that **** all.
