Best Engineering Mod for new DSS?

Nope. The new DSS mod has literally no downsides. Originally, it had an increased power draw, but later FD set the module's base power draw to zero.

If that's correct, I guess it's a different story.

Guess it'll be one more thing to engineer.

I have engineered DSS' (G5 Long Range) on a couple of ships and in the beta they give increased coverage to the probes (up to 30% I think) so worth it that way. Curiously (which I'm looking for to check later today) in the bete the DSS 'lost' its mass making the engineering downside disappear!

Detailed Surface Scanners (DSS) have an innate +20% Probe Radius. Cmdrs that had either of the 3 engineering effects on their DSS prior to the update will have that effect converted to additional Probe Radius (max of +30% at Rank 5 for a difference of 10% between unengineered to engineered, which shows as a 50% bonus to the original 20%). This of course helps with planet mapping, and some planets can't have the probe goal met without this mod.
