Best experimental for LR Pulse Lasers...

Hello All,

So I am finally close to unlocking Broo. I would like to engineer my pulse lasers. It will be long range for sure but what experimental would you suggest?? It will be installed on Python, all 5 hard points... I am leaning towards oversized or multi-servos...

It will run hot, I'd suggest tossing a medium LR thermal vent beam in there. Put emissive on the other medium, then it's pretty much a toss up between oversized and multi-servos. They both take more power and add the same dps increase. Emissive will really help keeping targets targeted at longer ranges.

The large on the bottom will converge fine at long range, but up close not so much and the PD will be a lot happier running one fewer large. Unless you are seriously committed to an all laser build, I'd put an OC Corrosive MC down there to help with hulls.

Emissive is essential if you're running all gimbals, but you still won't hit well at long range with gimbals. But with five of them going you may not need to hit well.

despite emissive on one as noted above, i wouldn't go with 5 pulse, but maximal 4 + 1 (ammo increased) corrosive MC. that 20% damage buff plus reduced hullhardness on targets ...

also look at the option to mod a medium of your pulses focussed -(maybe the one with emissive) - the hullpiercing of fucussed medium pulses is great when attacking large targets.

I am considering two LR beams in the M slots... Heat is the only thing I worry about really so thermal vent will probably help. The issue with this one is that farther the target, less chances to hit it right and thermal vent may start working against me...

Nice thing about long range, G1 is super cheap and easy to experiment with. Try it out with all pulse and see how it works with your flight/combat style.

I have a Python with 2 large pulse on top, 1 medium and 1 beam (all fixed + a gimbal large MC on bottom), but built it a long time ago so am just assuming I put the beam on because heat was an issue. Guess I don't really remember 100% for sure. It does a pretty decent job in CZs if I snipe PPs, with not much synthesis needed, fun ship for combat that I ignored for a long time.

That is the idea. NPC tend to run away very fast when they get below certain hull %. LR because I want them to have less chances to spin up that FSD...

IMHO building to take down runners isn't worth it, I've tried and found it to be a big compromise for little gain, better to just use a fast ship. YMMV though, maybe you can do better at it than I did.

I love using LRs as you can take down a ships shields before it is even within firing range. I use this combo (Laser/Beam LR with MC OC/Corrosive on my PvE builds (eg Vette/Conda) with enjoyable results!
A Beam with Vent needs to be on the MC fire button so it only kicks in at close range when you fire your MCs...
I can post my builds if you like?
On my Python I use Burst Laser with LR IRCC... One sec...

Here is my standard runner Python build. It's just a cargo runner, but gives you an idea.

Vette Build.
Conda Build.
Trucker Cutter Build.
Krait MkII Build.

Thank you so far. I've spend last night looking at multi-canons and have to say that ammo limitation scares me for now but I see benefits. I need to work with Tod on the way to the next engineer anyway so I might as well get one overcharged/corrosive in one slot and test it...

For Python, the Large undernose hardpoint is the best for an overcharged/Corrosive Multicannon and it will greatly reduce the TTK if you get into brawling with that Python.

That is where it will be going. Corrosive apparently works in the way that only one HP should have that effect as it does not stack...
