General / Off-Topic Best movie scenes

You tube took ages to load here. I wondered if it was Passport to Pimlico!

Great choice considering <ehem> recent events. I was thinking about Ealing Comedies for this thread. My favourite scene out of my favourite comedy hasn't been chopped up and stuck on You Tube, which I guess is no bad thing. You should really watch the whole of the movie.
The Man in the White Suit..

It's good to talk about something else other than political chaos.

Here's one of my favourite scenes from another movie. This film is about an idiotic blowhard American businessman who has plans to build a development that would be a blot on an idyllic landscape. He tries to ride roughshod over the Scottish community there, but meets opposition in a man who completely opposes his materialistic way of life.

Movie that seems to divide people into love/hate camps, but there's no denying - it's full of great individual scenes.
This pub scene was my absolute favorite. What follows next - shootout. Great, but not as good as the suspense and build-up.
You can cut the tension with a knife. Fabulous directing. Vocal exchanges, eye movement and overall pace of the scene is just sublime.
Too bad I couldn't find a full scene with SS officer investigating odd accent.

Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine…

[haha]Best Product Placement ever.[haha]

A bunch of amateurs

Not exactly sure what you mean by "A bunch of amateurs". At the time Casablanca was made, the cinema was the main source of entertainment. The movie companies were film factories churning out movie after movie. Out of all the dross being stamped out this one just happened to fall out. By pure chance they produced a perfect movie. The one thing you can't call Casablanca is a movie made by amateurs.

Not exactly sure what you mean by product placement either. Unless you're talking about the line "I’d bet they’re asleep in New York. I’d bet they’re asleep all over America", which is basically an advert to America to come to sunny Europe and have lots of fun defeating a certain German/Austrian you-know-who.

If you want product placement you cant beat...

This randomly came on my MP3 player today, how could I forget this? The best intro to any movie ever, surely.

You bank holiday British know exactly what I'm talking about. That song says - these guys mean business.

The Fuzzy award for the best romance goes to Lady and the Tramp (1955). The scene where they share spaghetti and unexpected kissed.
Award for the most influentional film goes to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It was the hardiest decision. I hesitated over choice between HP and The Lord of the Rings.

Nobody has posted any clips from The Room yet?

Best movie scene? Hmm pretty cool thread but damn this is gonna be hard!

Plenty from LOTR that stand out, but I think my all time fav has to be this one from The Matrix. When that helicopter smashes into the side of the building and Neo saves Trinity...omg. I stand up and cheer every time :D

"The Matrix", a most excellent choice <air guitar sting> Keanu Reeves features in a lot of my favourite movies. He doesn't appear in this clip but he does a great job of his scenes...

Just realized something earlier during an argument on one of my other haunts.

My favorite scene in the awesome Jurassic Park doesn't involve any dinosaurs.

Best scene? Three Seashell. Not going to link in... Because? :D

Thought about what great movie scenes I can remember, concluded I remember too many of them, so I'll go with a bunch of "sci-fi goosebumps" ones.

Since no one mentioned Sunshine yet, (a movie that for me personally has won the "Most unexpectedly amazing movie" award):

Mercury Transit:

What do you see? (spoiler-ish):

Also, another clip from Interstellar (winner of the "I asked for popcorns, why did you bring me onions?" award):

23 years of messages:

And closing on a completely different genre, an award for the "One-take virtuoso - Level: Asian" award from the movie "The Protector":

Oh god, that Interstellar "years of messages" scene absolutely destroys me every time [cry]

Another terrific scene from that movie is of course "No time for caution" - absolutely breathtaking!

And another all-time favourite is this one from True Romance. Basically the Dennis Hopper character (who's not going to betray his son and therefore knows that Walken is going to kill him) does the bravest thing I've ever seen in a film and spins out what, for the Walken character, is the worst insult he could possibly hear. An acting masterclass from two of the very finest.
