Best way to find high RES near my current system?

I'm going to take a break from what I've been doing recently to do some bounty hunting so want to find a high RES that's not too far from where I'm currently located so I can return quickly when I want to switch back again.

I've been looking at EDDB's 'Bodies' page but I'm not totally sure what I need to be searching for to give the best chance of locating a high RES. I know you can't actually search for a RES itself so I'd still need to look around a few systems, that's fine, I just want some pointers on how to narrow down the systems.

I see the Bodies page doesn't allow you to simultaneously search for systems with pristine, major or common reserves - you can only search for one of those at a time so effectively have to do a few searches, which I don't mind, but what other options should I look for, please? All help gratefully received. Thanks.

You don't care about reserves for bounty hunting.

What you're looking for is any kind of ring in a populated system near your reference system: https://eddb.io/body?p=1&g=4&t=0&d=0

edit: Points of interest like extraction sites show up in the navigation list below 1000 ls distance. So just approach all potential rings (no need to get any closer than <1000 ls) to see if they have a high resource extraction site.

Thank you. I was using that "Has Rings?" drop down and setting it to "Yes" which seemed to give me zero results. Your method of putting "Ring" into the "Body Group" box seems to give more. Cheers.

Has rings applies to whatever other body type you are searching for. Useful if you wanna find something exotic like a ringed neutron star for example.

But in this case the only condition really is that it has to be a populated system. Extraction sites don't exist outside of them.

If you're in the neighborhood, my current home system, Omicron Columbae, has two haz res sites and one high res site within 1 Ls of the Coriolis Station. The ring is also metal rich, in case mining is your thing.

Definitely without, or do you mean they might be without because it's not necessarily a populated system?

Hazardous Resource Sites never have system security although the occasional NPC bounty hunter might wander through. They are still safe though, as pirate won't initiate combat unless you have cargo to steal. Naturally being able to always initiate combat and attack from ambush is a massive advantage, which is why many prefer them over combat zones.

You asked for high RES at first, which is with security. That list there only has points of interest without security (it's still all populated systems). Depending on your ship you may want one or the other.

HAZRES has powerplay ships tho, and they attack wanted ships.. also if you are wanted.

Ah right... Yes, I don't want Haz RES, I want High RES. I thought the hozbase list was showing systems with both, I didn't realise it was specifically excluding High RES sites.

Sounds great, but I just checked and I'm about 200 LY away which while not too bad is a little further than I'd planned. However your post made me remember a system I used to do a lot of BH in when I first bought a Vulture and I just checked to see it's only 68 LY from where I am, so I might go back there. Thanks.

Quality of reserves is said to influence quality of spawns in the hazres...

So maybe you do care - both ways, actually. If you want easier targets, you want poor reserves, if you want better targets, you want pristine reserves...
