Best way to make more than 1 billion credits

Fastest way to make more than 1 billion credits

Hello,

Can someone please give me some helpful advice on the fastest way to make more than 1 billion credits? I currently have approx 200 million credits to invest in a process to make this amount and can earn more to outfit a ship correctly.

The current options I am considering are:
1. Trading
2. RES sites
3. Mercenary/massacre missions at conflict zones

Are there any other options?

long range hauling or smuggling, will take a while but makes more then the 3 options you have listed, cargo fit a python and head out to sothis, robigo and haul back to bubble. made 40m on my last trip, just about to head back to the bubble and will make around 30m this trip

If you decided the clean way
Earn 50mil more you can have a choice to get a Conda.
It makes lesser jumps than a Python
And more cargo,
And tougher.
And it is a Conda:p

protip, always buy and outfit ships in Li Rong-Yui's systems

there is no money to be made in REsites anymore. im happy the AI is allot better, and gives more challange... but without buffing the bounties, there is seriously no money to be made there.

if you want money, i say trading.. but that can be verry exhausting.

I find missions especially delivery and data missions give you a good return. the advantage of delivery missions is the large payout if you are allied and high trade rank with the local faction, and that your trade rank will also increase whilst carrying out these missions. Apart from that, trade imperial slaves, but that soon gets grindy.

Long-distance missions seem to be one of the best routes and you have the choice of smuggling or legal missions. For smuggling use Sothis/Ceos and legal use Aditi. You'll need an anaconda or python, the anaconda gives a better cargo hold but won't land on outposts so you won't get as many available missions. You'll get enough but the ideal is to get enough missions to the same system that fill up your cargo space without having to mode switch.

In both systems rank up with the local factions by taking data missions to the next system to and fro until you reach the rank just below allied at least (Friendly?). Then start your long distance missions. To do the ranking I bought a small ship at the Sothis/Ceos/Aditi system and used that to get back and forth and then sold it once I'd ranked up enough.

To do the missions you need something with a reasonable jump range as you'll be travelling 400 or so light-years from Sothis/Ceos and 250+ ly from Aditi. You also need something that can run from interdicting ships or with strong enough shields to just keep going while the FSD cools down and then charges.

Then you need patience.

I'd suggest that you also install an advanced system scanner but that's me as I'm also trying to improve my explorer rank.

Have fun.

Can you please explain what the definition of long range hauling is? Are these mission board missions or manual commodity buy/sell routes?

In excess of 250 ly.

Basically Sothis/Ceos and Aditi are well outside the bubble. You take "bulletin board" missions, not trade, from there back to the bubble.

I would recommend having several different approaches, because if you grind out 1BCr doing one thing, you might burn out before you even get there.

I'm working on getting my Corvette exactly as I want it (including engineer mods), for when multi-crew drops. So I have a clear goal, but I also know that 2.3 wont drop tomorrow, so I can mix things up a bit and keep the game fresh.

My first personal target after buying every buyable ship in the game (except the Condor) was to reach 1 billion in cash. Wasn't a problem and I enjoyed the few weeks that it took to get there. Just depends on the player.

The best way to make credits is to do what you enjoy.

I think you are asking, what is the fastest way to make credits... which might be very boring and require a lot of grinding.

Are you prepared for that?

Play the game. Do what makes you smile. The cr will come.

And with level 5 FSD you can do $16 million of ENTIRELY LEGAL biowaste haulage missions in ooh, 10-12 jumps and without trying to stack anything. I seriously don't understand why FD are letting this happen. I can only think they want everyone armed to the teeth before the aliens arrive.

Bonus is that while there is the occasional pirate with a "biowaste" fetish, they are a few and far between. #goToCeosAndSothis

Good odds.
Long range trade/smuggle both requires some simple technique on route planning and NPC baiting.
If you do smuggling there will be some addition.
You can open a spreadsheet and do logs on it.
And get yourself a forum... or a book... or James May...

Go well prepared.

Sothis and Ceos only output biowaste (and hydrogen fuel before).
10-12 jumps ? Only my Conda can do that with without cargo.
Outbound we are talking 17-27 depending on ships.

Btw. Please let me know which ship on Earth, or beyond Earth has such efficient lorry rating:p

Ouranos has an Engineer modified ship so it could be more than that for a stock ship.

There´s a dedicated clan for this. They (we) are called secret billionaires. The not-so-secret-website is www.elite-commanders.de , we are glad to provide all tricks, even in english :)

We actually cover around 100 billion ingame-credits with roundabout 9 people. Most of us had their first billion and the trading-elite in January 2015.

See ya :)

*advertising off*

Small tips:

- be efficient. Don´t try fancy stuff, play efficient. Have your numbers ready.
- become Elite ASAP (-> Shinrarta Permit -> Efficient ship outfitting)
- don´t even try to trade stuff
- get the mechanics

Besides of this there are no more than 2 efficient ways to earn money in Elite at the moment:

1. Robigo/Sothis/Ceos (legal missions)
2. Bounty-Hunting in RES WITH PP-Bonus applied

All other stuff is more fun, but it´s not the perfect way to earn money. Of course it´s a game, so you decide what the most fun is.

And from the number´s point of view: It looks like everything under 15-20 million per hour is a wasted time effort.

But remember: FUN is more important than money! :)

Incorrect.

I did not modded ships until the Conda, and my Conda did not begin with modifications as well.
Average number of jumps to the first stop is below:
25 - 27 on unmodded 224T Python
22 on unmodded 336T Conda
17 on modded Conda

Li Yong-Rui systems offer better price for ships and modules.
I brought my cutter and all modules with 17.125% discount.
There is an area in between Empire and Fed space and contains few High Tech systems, Gunapa, Arjung, Harm
