Newcomer / Intro Best weapon loadout for Adder?

I just got the game couple of weeks ago in the sale. I have had a few sessions bounty hunting at a nav point and just bought an Adder.

I have no desire to earn credits asap or buy the biggest ship I can or be the meanest fighter in the galaxy. I bought the Adder as it sounded like a ship I could pootle around in having a go at most aspects of the game while I learn how it all works.

I had intended to put 2 small gimbaled beams and 1 medium gimballed multi cannon on it but I am having second thoughts. As I said I see myself in a learning phase so I may try different weapons but I am looking for some advice on the best weapon loadout to start with.

Other than that the only upgrade I have made is an A power distributor. I will probably upgrade the fsd when I start travelling to boost the range. Other upgrades I have looked at like shields don't seem to offer much advantage for the money. Is it worth upgrading thrusters?

I want to keep it reasonably cheap so that it doesn't cost too much to buy back if I die.

Adder is a nice little ship.

It's only a class 2 power distributor but I think it should be able to handle two small beams, if not - try out pulses or even burst lasers. But the medium MC is a pretty good choice.


Upgraded thrusters can be very nice, I'd say to get at least the C-rated if you don't want to pay half a million for the A-rated ones. Going from the E-rated shield to an A-rated gives you ~24% stronger shields in this case.
 
Thanks for the replies. I find it difficult to find acurate and useful information on much of the equipment and weapons in ED. Even the loadout sites are often unclear.
 
Two small beams and a medium multicannon is actually what many consider the go-to weapon setup for both the Adder and the Imperial Eagle.

The dual beams really do an admirable job at eating through shields.
