Best weapons for a Sidewinder

Engineering sounds complicated..

It can be but once you come to grips with what upgrades are good for certain situations, you can easily have your engineer upgrades picked out before you even finish purchasing modules for a new ship. It's like enchanting in some RPGs, but with minor drawbacks in exchange for the upgrades. :3

i had some fun with ammo increased dumbfires, one modded for thermal damage. the problem with a conda is there, that you can shoot out its thrusters, and even shieldgenerator, but you can't really kill it with dumbfires.

more successfull is the mC (corrosive) + beam combo, or beam + cannon.

i mainly fly 2 overcharged mcs, one corrosive (upped armor penetration), one incendiary.

For extra pvp fun OP, build a hull tank silent sidey with clean drives and low emission PP. Put one OC dispersal cannon and one rapid fire mine launcher with reverberating cascade. 12 or so mines will drop the shields of even a prismatic Cutter (much less for smaller/weaker shields).

Go to a CG and interdict fed vetts, cutters and condas. Fire a few cannon rounds and bait them into chasing you, go FA off and fly in reverse firing you cannon. Once they get about 2km start kicking out mines and watch as they fly into them.

It's always fun watching a fed vett jump away while calling you a hacker over comms after you destroy his shield gen.

Been putting a Cobra together that'll do something like this, not had a chance to test it yet though.

Don't have a sidewinder, but I do have an Eagle fitted with Enforcers and they work really well for that ship. Also put 3 of them on my Cobra MkIV, rapid fire w/auto loader. Think that was a bit too much since it will chew through ammo in no time, but it put a big smile on my face. :D

Your problem with a sidewinder is the small hardpoint against the high armour of an Anaconda. Regardless of whether you drop the shields honourably or cheesily, you still need to get through that hull.

Railguns have high armour penetration, otherwise you need a heavy kinetic round with a G5 sturdy mod to get the penetration up. IIRC a fixed cannon can hit 52 armour piercing against an Anaconda's default 65 armour hardness.

I tried PvP today, not to kill anyone, but just to annoy the griefers. It was good fun in a one-on-one, but the griefers and gankers are always in gangs, so I'm still getting 2-shotted even with 580 boost speed and long-range weapons.

Have you beefed you hull? My sidey has an 800 hull (could have more but I need a little cargo space because I'm a pirate) and can take a lot. Also I recommend silent, a silent running sidey is a huge pain for griefers.

I can't really because the weight would slow me down. I'm using enhanced thrusters. At the moment, my MO is to interdict them, boost out of range and then shoot them with my fixed long-range lasers. I can't kill anybody like that it's just to grief the griefers, but their mates always drop in and get me.

For this I'd recommend a hauler. It can boost to 650+ with DDs. An Imperial Eagle would also do great

Bear in mind that the PvP meta is shifting towards long range g5 rails with god rolled thermal load reduction. Four or (if winged) twelve or sixteen of those will pop your Sidey at 5 km, no trouble. In fact, as half of them will be super penetrator, you'll literally be bored right through!

Hence if you wish to persist you might consider dropping long range yourself and moving towards a 750 m to 1250 m strategy, and fighting in the thick of them - at which range your relative movement is very great, making it more difficult to be focused down even by a wing. Naturally you should be spamming chaff but as you lack comprehensive counter-measures they'll get you anyway, most likely with missiles. But you may last longer than trying to fight their long range rails with your long range lasers...
