Horizons Best weapons Python and other ships

[yesnod]I FOUND A WORKAROUND![yesnod] for the "fire at will" problem. If you like to run all turrets you need to swap out a single weapon for one that is either fixed or on gimbals. The fixed/gimballed weapon acts like a "master" and now, the "target only" setting will remain persistent. On my Python I switched out the chin-mounted turret beam laser (3F) for the gimballed (3C?) one and problem solved! At least until a permanent fix is found.
The patch today fixed this.
 
I've recently started a new CMDR, and I've worked up to my Python.

So far, I've found the following to be pretty effective:-

2 x medium burst lasers (turrets)
1 x large burst laser (turret) under the nose
These keep an attacker under fire a lot of the time, no matter if they go above or below...
1 x large pulse gimballed for forward fire
1 x large m/c gimballed for when their shield drop.

I find that with the A rated distributor I can keep 4 pips in the system, 2 in weapons and keep firing.
Doesn't give a rapid takedown, but works quite well.

I also have 2 point defence modules - carefully placed, 1 above the hull, 1 below.

I'm seriously looking for a turret m/c, then I'll go hunting upgrades.

Not perfect, but it sees me to Sothis & back
 
Hi. I tried 3 large pulse lasers and 2 medium beam turrets, but I found a better combo was this:

3 Large beams, 1 turret cannon and 1 turret scatter cannon.

The beams shred shields in seconds, and you control the heat rise, and as the shredded ship flies past both cannons give it hell.

With the slowish turning rate of the Python, the turret cannons keep bombarding them, and either that or another 3 beam blast finishes them off.
Sure you are restricted with ammo, but you can synthesise more on the fly if you have the materials.
