Patch Notes Update Beta - 1.6 and The Engineers (2.1) incoming

I got this from a Reddit thread.

(1.6) Changes in Minor Faction state will be more likely and noticeable, affecting ship traffic and composition, and markets. Market prices, supply and demand will change, affecting commodities, rares, and salvage selling.

Is this included in this update?

EDIT - ok, I found one of them - - "Significantly increased the effects of faction state on commodity markets availability and prices"

They haven't said how long 3 will last. My guess was "what better way to test out pvp balance than to have them rewarded for hunting and killing each other?" YMMV
Also if it is a couple of days at the end of beta it will likely fill in the dead air between beta finishing and 2.1 going live

Hopefuly its just that but the fact that its a phase of itself makes me worry that it will be a decent chunk of time. And even though you can get bounties in PVE the whole phase is going to disrupt game play as a whole it feels like.

Well since hostile stations won't let you dock, it might be wise to swap over to energy weapons and a Cobra. :)

Then dont play in Open during those days? Or be glad for those who will have a few days of fun? :)
 
- Collisions with skimmers are now also extremely disruptive to ships, hitting one will cause a temporarily loss of drives and shields - don't do it

So that little drone will instantly shut down the massive shields and drives of an Anaconda when they bump into them?

I mean I see what the general angle is here. Together with the targetting changes, you want to prevent people using their ships to attack skimmers, making them untargettable would mean you could still fly very low and ram them.

But all of this reveals a deeper problem: the extreme power difference between ships and ground objects (e.g. skimmers). But I'd rather see other solutions than giving skimmers magical super-powered explosions (although the change doesn't even say whether it only occurs when the skimmer is destroyed in the collision). After all, if skimmers have that effect, the logical question is why isn't whatever inside the skimmer triggers this used as an actual weapon? Why is there, basically, not a gun that shoots projectiles filled with "skimmer stuff" that immediately disables shields and engines on any ship in a single hit?

If you really want a hard limitation to ramming skimmers with your ship, then just make them immune to collision damage from ships instead. That's easier to swallow than shields and engines magically deactivating.

Blown away by all this stuff! Haven't been excited like this about a game for years!

I thought the throttle set to zero from FSD and the game lost focus was a feature. I predict many traders and explorers watching something else on their 2nd monitor will be crashing into stars a bit more often now. :)

Think I may of broken the installer. I installed 1/3 of it and thought there is 2 versions the mission and the engineers.
I though best check to see which one I was downloading, so cancelled the installation. it now gets to 1/3 and says:
Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed.

Prob over loaded. Well will try later. Off back to Fallout 4 as I'm doing the Silver Shroud Mission.

Usual fixes don't work. Deleting the entire PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_64 folder also doesn't work.

Yikes yeah that's pretty excessive, I'm not even sure how skimmers can generate enough an emp to kill drives AND shields on an anaconda or corvette. I think the making them immune to ramming damage would be a better choice since you could argue sense they're so small your more likely to knock them off course then to actually hit them head on to destroy them.
