I was able to play for 5 minutes with all the bugs and my 2 thoughts are:

1. the game must have a third person view, every major flight game has it. A 3rd person view with no reticle or hud would be ideal, not possible to use in combat but the same button used to look around the cockpit should be used to look around the ship in 3rd person. Dealbreaker for me, space games especially you spend so much time cruising around working on your ship that a 3rd person view where you sit back and admire the ship while taking in the environment is essential. Star Conflict, War Thunder, Star Citizen all have the third person and it's just too big of a factor to neglect. Make it a handicap in combat but usable for fun, if Star Citizen has it and ED doesn't I will definitely switch over to SC just for the 3rd person.

2. Requiring returning to location of mission acquisition for credits is unacceptable, another dealbreaker for me. Get this wrong and 3rd person wrong and the game will lose half its player base because of 2 easily fixable and frankly standard game mechanics.

You've got a beautiful game here Frontier, 2 major things to add the rest I don't care. I can handle the bugs, the lack of regional capture, the lack of station control and all the rest. Fix these 2 things I mentioned and you have yourself the 2nd best space game at worst. The scale of the environments is spectacular, please don't mess up the things that are industry standards. Eve, a decade old game, doesn't make you go back to where you got the mission for your rewards, don't screw this up. I want to give you my money. I want to have only one game that I play and no others and would gladly spend hundreds of dollars on it if it's done right.

Sorry, but exactly those things is what ED get funded in first place. Third person view will be done via in-game stuff like camera drones with limited capacity. You will have to return back to mission giver for money. That's how game is designed.

Download finished 7.25am so got a quick 5 min peek before work. Drooled over fuel gauge and boost sound (sad, I know) but couldn't seem to get the system map up- have they been implemented yet? I was maybe not looking hard enough as the galaxy map has a lot more buttons now!

The single worst gameplay mechanic I can even think of in any game, the phantom hits and no clipping enemy attacks in dark souls are pretty bad but forcing people to go back to the mission provider is worse. Whatever logic it's based on is flawed, one bad idea rationalized by another. I probably won't even play the game if they don't change it, they can keep my $75 and I'll be off to another game that does not mandate tedious unnecessary backtracking.

Looking forward to getting stuck in. To late last night to do more than just download, install (painless thanks FD) and have a very quick look. Realised that couldn't get online (red button complaints seem to be gone this morning, or maybe its just too early ;-) but hope to get a look see at some point later.

Interested in stuff being said already, returning to point of origin for payment on missions, is a pain. I guess you can make it work if you can return with a suitable payload, and collect your fee, but you'd think electronic transfer or agents on different stations (who receive the goods) might be able to act on behalf of the the mission originator. Anyway I'll wait and see what this looks like before jumping in.

Hope fuel doesn't add a difficult level of ambiguity, from what I am reading it seems a bit rough - but thats beta.

In any case once again great step forward, by what I've seen and heard so far. Well done FD.

Sorry you feel that way. But if I were you I'd give it some time. The Beta just started and lots of features will be tweaked or changed completely. That's the point of Beta.

I agree with you on the external camera thing, for me its a huge thing, but FD are working on something, which is good for us.

Regarding missions, this is the first pass on missions, we dont actually know that returning to the origin will be the case for all missions, so I would give that time for players to feedback on.

It's honestly not helpful talking about "dealbreakers" when it comes to simple feature developments and beta-testing. Same goes for "they can keep my $75", etc.

Please throw toys a bit less.

Please continue and post informed, reasoned, reasonable requests more.

I cannot believe the amount of work that has gone into that for the new release.
I hope, now, the members complaining about the delay will eat their words.
Well done.

I'm not throwing toys, I was sharing an opinion that I'm certain a lot of people will share as well. The only way this becomes immature, resorts to insults or makes it personal because of you. Using rhetoric such as "simple feature" are rhetoric to diminish my completely valid opinion. Traveling from place to place to claim rewards for credits is simply illogical, I can't spend hours doing something so illogical while not having fun in a game that's supposed to be fun. It will be maddening.
