2.02 is a tiny improvement on 2.01

I've managed to drop off a data delivery between disconnects, but connection stability is is abysmal compared to 1.04 tried open and solo settings.

on a disconnect tend to get stuck with red start button, also 50 50 chance i'll have to kill process on quit after a server error.

but have longmorn and by heck i'll get this mission payout or pass out trying :)

It's so refreshing to see a community that are positive and encouraging and nothing but thankful even through all these minor teething problems.

I salute you all!!

Crash on entering supercruise just after the countdown :s

Client will not close/exit properly.

Thanks to the dev's for working such silly hours!

E2a: no milky way in the background either.

The biggest problem of this build, it's a connection. Just as it was in alpha 2.0. Then more than half of the testers were not able to connect to an server.

These days, there are so many iterations of CPUs, GPUs, operating systems, patch levels etc etc etc ... You just can't expect something to work for everyone, immediately.

Fine, but it's not a case of some isolated users with obscure driver issues causing them problems. It is a wide-scale problem with lack of connection to the servers - which is why the tutorials are still working (although the menu can and does still freeze once you complete the tutorial's task).

They have pushed out two hot fixes, addressing several issues. I didn't see much about server connectivity in the change log though.

I know this forum is largely populated by a very fair and patient set of folks, but I would bet good money that there is going to be a pretty hard-talking meeting at the Frontier offices once this is running well enough for them to take time for one ...

It's only a game, not anything affecting people's health or finances, so I'm not going to get bothered by it. But to pretend that it is not something of a shambles, and to criticise anyone who complains about it, is a bit much really.

But hey-ho. I expect I'll get all sorts of flaming for holding this view.

So I'll ignore it, and pop off for an early night with a book.

Sweet dreams all.

just tested out 2.02 briefly on lunch break. Much better! loaded faster, was able connect to open play on first attempt, star skybox looks awesome! Also when I quit out there was no hang.

I was able to play for 10 minutes now. Made 650 credit profit between Chango and Aulin Enterprise. Then the Bulletin Board wouldn't load. Waited 30 seconds. Then disconnected again.

I just had exactly the same experience! Even managed a jump. Then frozen market data... then kicked.

could it be, everything but the Servers are fine???
for me it's unplayable right now and it seems to be like this because of the server load? (wild guessing)

I'm off. What I've seen has been great.

If you can explore the system in the super cruise training mission. It might calm you down if you are getting a bit antsy.

Getting the same as Cinewolf.

Still freezing at the menu with Start in red and server unconnected.

In the space of ~14 seconds between getting to the menu and killing the process, I got 2,623,927 lines of output in the netlogs, most of which are repeats of those 3 lines.

That's a lot of retries!

The servers will be going down in about 10 minutes time to allow us to apply the update. Beta 2.02 should be available by 20:30 BST.

Once again, the team would like to thank everyone who waited so patiently for this update. The beta testing you do on E: D is incredibly important.

If there continue to be issues with the build, please keep in mind that this is the nature of beta tests. There are more updates to follow.

Here’s the change log for 2.02:

- Multithread crash in stellarforge fixed
- Make each of the disconnects from missions have their own unique reason
- Turn off date stamping of log files for beta 2.02
- Don't let overachieving AIs send cargo collect requests
- Fix flipping direction on supercruise entry
- If we get a call to disconnect from main game flow then write the reason into the network log file
- When entering new location expect the PrimaryServerLink may be in Disconnected state for a few frames, only give up if it stays that way for a few seconds; add more explicit logging if giving up here
- Fix for AI group duties crash
- Tone down star streaks - halved the number of star streaks and reduced their opacity
- Scratches on sidewinder cockpit are overpowering - reduced dirt intensity
- Fixing naming error that was stopping a medium hard point door from opening
- GUI fix for missing rating on modules
- Distance on purchasable data now displayed
- Fix for network MTU size mismatch
- Prevent crash from network stall and resulting replication errors
- Force requests closed on shut down

Enjoy Cmdrs

Thanks guys!
Don't work too hard!

Think you're right mate. It just a little frustrating, to go from a 99% working game, to a car crash debacle. I daresay they will be working long hours to fix it, and tbh I'd rather they took their time and did it right...thanks for all your work though Devs...

2.02 not much better than 2.01. Still not playable.

Whenever I go into supercruise, you get the white flash, then stars return while the ship "does the shake", then it crashes on me either by crashing or by disconnecting from server.

I do not know if to raise ticket as that may just add to the noice Frontier are getting.

Just accepted a mission. Ho-hum, guess I will be doing a "Save Reset" soon then ....
